BF3 Config Utility

I don't see anything in there that you can't adjust in the game.

The "enlighten" setting is not in game. Although I wonder how soon before this either gets locked down or added in game, since it was not included in game and has a rather significant gameplay impact.

Where in the game can I adjust FOV? Not everyone likes the crappy FOV dice gives us.

FOV is adjustable in game, there is a slider with numbers in options.

Can anyone confirm if the "enlighten" feature is turned off, does it lower the burden on the GPU and increase fps? I need every frame I can get right now....

^^
No idea if it affects framerates. If it does, it's insignificant, I didn't notice an improvement. It doesn't remove the effect entirely, just lessens it.

I think enlighten=0 is placebo. Doesn't seem to do anything for me, I am still routinely blinded by ridiculously overdone world effects.

Sun like a nuclear bomb going off 100 feet from you, 100000 megawatt flashlights blinding you in daylight, IR scopes working in bright daylight and not only at night. I don't know what DICE was smoking when they implemented these things.

Entirely possible. If Battlefield 3's idea of a screenshot wasn't just a big white box, I'd do a side-by-side and see one way or the other if it does anything. Turning it off certainly doesn't seem to produce any negative effects though, so for now I'll leave it off.

On a bright outdoor map my teammate with a flashlight stopped in front of me and went afk with his flashlight pointed at me. My entire eyefinity screen setup went bright white. I was going to take a screen shot to laugh at how utterly ridiculous DICE has made this "feature".

IR scopes can work in daylight. At least the ones in FLIR pods can (like the ones on Predators), which I assume are the same technology.

It is an IRNV scope. The name is misleading. Even the battlelog write up about it only mentions it being useful for night. If you were using just a thermal and not the night vision part during the daytime, the image would NOT be green.

Yeah, I don't have it unlocked yet for the gun, so I was just basing it off the thermal sights in the tank (which isn't green).

Thing is they call it IR but it works like thermal. Two very different things.

Enlighten setting seems negligible either way, if anything.

IRNV for the guns works very different than thermal optics on the vehicles, it is much better. For instance thermal still suffers from being blinded by strong light sources (eg the sun) as well as having muzzle flash obscure more compared to thermal. IRNV is not impacted by these at all.

Downloaded as well.Applied settings,will post feedback once I come back from playing this evening.

Because DICE, in their infinite wisdom have decided to make a key binding system as an afterthought for BF3, we as gamers need to work around this indiscretion and make the game playable to our standards. This begins with control schemes.

GstKeyBinding.default = common controls
GstKeyBinding.heli = heli controls
GstKeyBinding.infantry = infantry controls
GstKeyBinding.jet = jet controls
GstKeyBinding.mav = ground vehicle controls

GstKeyBinding.[type].[command].0 = Keyboard
GstKeyBinding.[type].[command].1 = Mouse
GstKeyBinding.[type].[command].2 = Joystick/Gamepad

Now I'd like to know what buttons are mapped to what. For example, currently,

I believe controls the commo rose for 'Q', which I historically have used for sprinting and would love to get that to a different button.

Here are a list of known buttons for the keyboard. I assume mice and joysticks/gamepads will have a variety of different control schemes that each user will have to figure out. I will update this image as I get more information.

This definately needs an answer too.

Currently, I have my spot key set to another. But it doesnt spot by tapping it. I have to hold it, then left click.
Yet even though Q is no longer spotting, it still does spotting and actually works better than my new key.
I've gone over the controls and can't find anything that sheds any light on it.

This is the case for me too -- tremendous pain to deal with. I often don't even bother spotting because I have to stop running and sit there for a second to mark an enemy. OR, if I'm out of grenades, I can awkwardly use the 'Q' to spot. I hope at least this issue is patched soon.

Anyone else tried the latest version? I like it. But it says my desired FOV for 1920x1200 is 65, is that right?
