BF2 Stats wiped?

I just recently got BF2, been playing a lot. I was playing a few hours tonight... only to leave the server and find out my rank is now Private and says I have no kills or deaths.

Totally wiped clean. :rolleyes:

What's the dealio?

Also, I also found this on google. Don't know if it's true or not (see author's name? The Inquirer reporting on BF2....wierd.)
