Better laptop graphics?

Looking at 17.3" laptop. Using on the road. Very little gaming but would stream tv/movies. No graphics intensive apps

1920x1080, i5 3230M 2.6 Ghz 3.2 boost 3mb cache, integrated graphics intel HD 4000 shared mem, 6GB main memory ($130 more)

vs

1600x900, i5 2450M 2.5 Ghz 3.1 boost 3mb cache, Nvidia GT 610M 1GB graphics, 4GB main memory

both use Win 7
 
I'd rather get an A10-4600M APU... cheaper, better performance/price ratio. You get a entry-level graphics card, 7660G, probably better than that integrated gpu even for running 1080p HD video.
 
GT 610m isn't really much better than the HD4000.

I'd go with the 1080p screen option.
 
Of your options I'd personally go with the first.

Which laptops are these by the way? Some have better build quality than others regardless of the components list, and that may make a difference. Also have no idea what you're paying for these, except that the first one is $130 more.

The Lenovo G780 @ $599 might be an option if you are already spending more than you want to on your budget, but if you aren't on a budget then your first option above has better specs.
 
If it had a GT 630/40 it would be worth the price increase over HD4000. HD4000 is more than enough for your needs...
 
Yes the HD4000 is surprisingly capable and will cope with any video playback you throw at it.
