It really Depends on your budget. If you have a good chunk to spend the Asrock Fatality Z68 is an excellent choice and tbh is as far as you can go without just wasting money. if you on more of a budget ths Asorck Extreme3Gen3 or if you live near a micro center the ASUS p8z68-v are both excellent choices that won't break the bank at $129 (not the ASUS board requires you to purchase it as a combo with a cpu to get that price but why you would buy your cpu anywhere other than microcenter if the option is available to use is beyond me). There are a lot of boards in between but they are all more expensive and less full featured than those two boards anyway with the possible exception being the MSI Z68GD65 G3 which is still only worth it if for come reason you are concenred about buying an ASrock board though there really is no reason that you should be.

I'd wait and see what happens with Ivy Bridge support. It just doesn't make sense that you would have to send your board back to the factory to flash for IB support.

I just bought a P8Z68V-Pro. Awesome piece of kit. Absolutely love their bios implimentation, the Asus AI suite actually works pretty well. My 2600k auto overclocked to 4429mhz with a simple touch of a mouse button. Not sure about Ivy Bridge support, don't think it's a clear situation at present.

To try and redeem myself: it seems "your motherboard must be equipped with the ME8 (management engine) firmware " to be able to support Ivy Bridge.
(See stories at: http://www.fudzilla.com/home/item/22884-ivy-bridge-22nm-on-6-series-chipset-needs-new-software and
http://vr-zone.com/articles/the-upg...ight-be-blocked-by-changes-to-uefi/13513.html).

I have been unable to find any details about ME8. It may or may not be a big deal and it _might_ just need a firmware & bios upgrade.
But fudzilla said: " ... Intel also advizes that ME firmware where the letters stand for Manageability Engine won’t be
"field and end-user upgradable" leaving us to suspect that only the motherboard manufacturers will be able to upgrade the
boards to get the necessary firmware for Ivy Bridge support ... "

The whole issue raises doubt whether you will get full I.B. support with the current MBs available.

All that being said the ASUS P8Z68V-Pro is on my short list for my next upgrade.

If you're happy with that, that's the factor that matters the most.

I would caution that a release date doesn't mean a buy date unless you are willing to be on the edge of a new release. If you're not comfortable with that you're really looking at the date that it matures and that is a variable amount of time after it is released.
