Guys, I have a friend who is looking to buy a thumbdrive. These were some requests.

I want security #1 and be able to partition the drive so that I can have public and private (secure) folders. I want the best drive for this.

What would you all recommend?

I have a Sandisk Mini Cruzer 1GB, Its nice small and fast enough for me. All I use it for is moving files from my computer to others.. so I cant give you a comment on other features? if there is any..

I have heard people say that others are a little bit faster..

I have the same. I have no issues with it

Speaking of Sandisk, check out their Cruzer Titanium. I got one for my brother and he's really happy with it. No cap to loose, it's got a metal shell, and the plastic switch on it lights up blue when it's connected.

It comes with some software that lets you secure the data on it, but I haven't tried it personally, so don't know all its features.

My other choice would be the Visiontek Xtreme2. It's got a metal shell also and has the security software you're looking for as well.

I had a FujiFilm 256mb and I got in on the Dell Cruzer 1gb deal a while back.

Both worked perfectly well and I had no problems, even when the Fuji went through the wash

The PQI I-Stick not only has all the security stuff and speed you are looking for, but also has a coolness factor beyond compare. Imagine, 1GB of storage in your wallet. I have 1.5GB, since the little wallet card has two slots, and I just had to fill them both. The sticks come in 128MB, 256MB, 512MB, and 1GB flavors. I would suggest this, I love mine.
Ooooo...clicky!

I have a Cruzer 256 and the only problem I have with it is that I have lost all 3 caps, and the casing feels kinda weak. I definately recommend the Titanium since it solves both problems and I hear its extremeley fast, just like the regular Cruzers. I'll probably be getting a Titanium soon because my Cruzer is getting pretty thrashed.
