I just sold off my SLI cards and now that I'm dealing with a RageXL 8MB PCI card, I've come to the conclusion that I need a new video card ASAP. What is the best sub-$100 PCI-E card out there? I don't normally follow this price bracket around, so I have no idea about the X300 vs. 6200 (other than the fact that I don't want Hypermemory/Turbo Cache :) ). I saw a X600 Pro for $90, and that potentially looked like my winner. Any thoughts?

GeForce 6600 by a long shot, should be plentiful choices at $99 :D

If you're looking to game, Splinter is right. The Geforce 6600 is right at the $100 mark, and is the best choice. If you'll never play a game on the machine ever, you can go cheaper, but otherwise the 6600 is the one to go with.

the x600xt runs the SIMS2 fine on the wife's machine

True, but The Sims 2 can take a dip below 30fps for a couple seconds and it doesn't get you rail gunned or ganked, the 6600 is a far better choice.

Thanks guys. I'll look around. I'm kind of leary about going with an Nvidia card only because I might end up going with a primary ATI card next, and I might want to run both cards in my SLI board for 4 monitor goodness :). Don't think Nvidia and ATI will play nicely in that situation. Oh well, we'll see.

Can anyone link me to a sub-$100 6600? I can't find one anywhere (I can barely fine a 6200 for under $100  ).

Hmm, I got my Leadtek 6600 for $99 a few weeks ago at Newegg, but I later exchanged it for a 6600GT. I suspect they will run at that price again, but I see they are higher today. Did you try ZipZoomFly?

I found a 6600 refurbed for $75 at newegg, so I might get me one of those :). Thanks again.

best choice would be to get a 6600 refurb at newegg. my friend got it for his dell and it runs pretty smooth with a good oc. he got a gigabyte one

I just picked up a refurb ASUS 6600 w/256MB. For $78 it seemed like a good deal. Thanks for the help ;).

I got the card and it OC's nicely to 500/600. For the price, it games a little bit (not a lot with the Dell 2005FPW  ).
