What is the best PSU for under $150? I would like it to be able to handle a DX10 card and E6600 with 2x HDs, floppy, 2x DVD burners.

I secong that, but for a little more you can get a pc power and cooling silencer 610, but thats besides the point. Get the corsair you will love it

The silencer 610 is MADE by Seasonic, who also makes the Corsair HX 620. Plus, the 620 is a bit cheaper than the PCP&C, and it has more power, and it's modular, and flexforce c ables.

FlexForce is an Ultra thing. They might even have trademarked it.

Also, the CMPSU-620HX costs more than $150.

hdwag06, for a system like that, you would do well enough with the Enhance ENP-5140GH if you get an 8800GTS. The PSU itself has enough power for an 8800GTX, but I don't know if it would be possible to use an adapter to power the 2nd PCI connector on the card.

$145 according to froogle

Flexforce is an ultra thing, yes. But, it's flexforce STYLE cables on the HX. The flat molded together wires that look spiffy.

The Toughpower 650 maxes out at 48a on the +12v. A good choice. And hovering the $150. A worthy contender.

according to their website its 52A (only published on the top left corner) on the 12V. Where did u see 48A? and if you've got any link to any review of the 650W i'd be very thankful.

Get the corsair hx620 its 3x 12v rails @18a each can share the amperage up to 50a :D if you need it

oh snap i'm wrong it really is 52a.

Any of those are a good choice.

I was thinking about getting the 520watt off of newegg for $129.99. The 620watt was $179.99 off of newegg too. If anyone could recommend a place that is quite well known to buy the 620w for around $150, I would buy that.

Isn't that Corsair PSU a rebranded Seasonic? Or at least i think I read something like that in here when I was shopping for a new PSU myself.

Yes it is, Seasonic makes PSU's for a lot of companies, including the Antec NEO HE and PCPnC Silencer series.

I was looking at the corsair and noticed it said 20+4pin power connector. What does that mean? I know the motherboard is 24pin, but will the PSU work fine or what? Do I need to find a 24pin PSU?

Just means if you have an older 20 pin mobo, you can pop the +4 off (it slides off usually).

Also, checkout the PSU I have:

XG Duro 900w.

http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/308

It has 4 independent rails, is 900 watts, cables are wrapped. Only *slightly* larger then normal PSU's (like.. half an inch wider).

That one is really a seventeam 700 I believe. it's labeled way above what it really is.

That, and more rails != better.

I've been using it for a while, and its awesome. I love it. Extremely powerful and stable. Quiet as hell too.

OIder motherboards used a 20pin design. Newer motherboards use a 24pin design. The connector is a 24-pin connector where 4 of the pins can be folded back so it can be used on a 20-pin motherboard as well as a 24-pin motherboard.

It should work fine.

Thanks. I was just making sure. I didn't want to down $150 on an item that I don't really know too much about and have it not work properly.

They are the same because:
1. XG is not really 900w. it's 750. Which, coincidentally, is the same as the ultra.
2. The rails, just remove the OCP, bridge the rails, etc etc. I have no idea what I'm talking about, but it's just modded from 4 to 1, but with the same output.
3. Some manufacturers like to bling up their power supplies, as you know. Same deal.
4. UL numbers.
