ok im buying this hs
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16835186134
now where would be the best placement for it.
note that in my case the hd cage by the psu is taken out.
the blue arrow represents where the hot air is going.

blowing the hot air directly out of the case to the rear 120mm

or blow the hot air to the top 90 mm rear fan and feeding air to the 120mm psu fan. in the picture it doesnt say there is one but there is a 90mm fan right above the 120mm rear fan.

I vote for blowing the hot air out of the back of your case.

Sometimes people are forced to blow it up into their hot power supply because their case is too small and poorly designed but avoid this for best overall cooling.

yah, but a freind told me its be better to make it point upward. would it make a huge diff either way?
ill prob end up making to go straight out to the rear 120 because im getting another front 120 intake and it will help direct the air over the ram or am i wrong?

As long as the front fans are all intakes and the rear/top fans are all blowing hot air out I really doubt it'll make any difference for the HSF which way you orient it's fan... But the PSU is definitely better off w/o the air from the HS being forcibly blown directly in it's general direction.

Hot air rises, sure, but it's a tiny distance either way, and hot PSUs need to do more work to operate effectively, possibly reducing it's lifetime, etc etc.

if you look closely at the bottom few fins of that heatsink they are curved down, this is to help cool the PWM area of the MB. Which is between the CPU socket and the rear ports. it would be best to mount the heatsink so this functions as designed. I have the same heatsink except for the AMD CPU and it needs to be mounted with the fan blowing towards the back of the case as in your fist case shot.
