best mechanical keyboard under $50?

Easy. I have around 7 or 8 Mechanicals ...mostly expensive ... from $120 to $160 price range.

I recently got a few Skorpion K1 Mechanic Keyboards in on a trade from some Cyberpower Systems guys bought to pull the video cards from.

Let me tell you, fantastic cheap mechanical keyboard. Extremely well built. I wouldn't even call it cheap, it's that good. This is from a guy that has some really nice keyboards. It's a fetish for me I guess. It's so bad that I keep asking for new keyboards for Birthday's and Xmas, etc and the GF tells me "Hell no!"

Here is one for $35 shipped free.

It really is in the same class as $100+ Mechanical keyboards.

Oppps ...... nevermind my advice ..... the K1 has clicky blue-keys. Sorry, I re-read your post.

Those Qisan boards are nice with reds. I use one at work. For the price, its a great keyboard.

Check out eBay for older Cherry MX based keyboards. The ones meant for POS systems are generally pretty cheap AND come with quiet key switches as well. The couple I got have cherry browns.

The MX8*** (G80-8100, 8113, 8200, etc.) variants are pretty nice as well as any of the others with CC readers as they have full n-key rollover.

Sure it is an older keyboard, but probably never going to wear out.

Around $30-$40 seems to be the going price right now. There are even a few brand new MX8100s going for $40 shipped.

I ended up getting the one I linked in my first post. I like it but I wish the lower keys were sloped like they were on my logitech. the response is so much better than my old keyboard. the keyboard itself is heavy and feels well built. I think they put a weight inside.

I can't find them anymore, but monoprice used to have some pretty nice mech keyboards for well under $50 shipped when they were on sale.

Otherwise, just wait a bit and you'll see a flood of them hitting ebay and other resale markets since the number of manufacturers has increased 20x and not everyone buying a mech will find a linear switch is their cup of tea.
