building a MythTV system (well actually a pluto home system with a media director running mythtv to be precise.)

trying to decide on a case... liked this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16811119071

and this looks pretty good:

any experience with this?

i will have:

PVR-350
Nvidia Geforce 6200
chaintech av-710
room for one more capture card

no internal HD needed but maybe will have one IDE anyway.
internal DVD-+R and if there is room DVD-ROM as well.
 
I have a case sold by nMedia (the htpc 100, to be exact), and it's "okay". The build quality is nothing to write home about, but it does the job and doesn't look too hideous. The lcd on the front, however, bothers the wife (it's pretty bright), but the model you're looking at doesn't appear to be as bad.

Thanks a bunch for the post, as I had never heard of pluto home before. Looks like my myth backend box may be taking on more responsibilities soon. :p

The Antec NSK2400 seems to be the current darling of the HTPC crowd, and for good reason. It seems to be a top notch case that looks quite passable without costing an arm and a leg.

Personally, I'm gonna ditch my nMedia case. I just ordered an LC-11M from pcalchemy.

This case is very attractive, but only supports 1xagp and 2xpci (or 1x pcie and 2xpci) by using a riser card. Not exactly what you're looking for.

Silverstone has captured my heart. I own an LC20M and have loved every aspect of it...I had a little bit of sticker shock when I first bought it but once I received it and installed all my components, the build quality and appearance made it well worth the cash. I'd buy it or any other silverstone case in a heartbeat.

Yeah if you're looking for a top notch htpc case Silverstone has become somewhat the standard setter. However, the antec cases (nsk2400 and Fusion) will be easier to keep cool & quiet, imho.
 
Seriously, I love my Fusion. I don't quite know why but it just looks so pretty.

Do you like it (roughly) $90 more than the nsk2400? :)

If I had to buy one I might not have got it, Antec sent it to me for review (both cases actually). But yeah I think I like it more then the NSK2400 although I'm not too sure if the extra features are worth the extra cash (yet, I haven't had time to actually go over the case. Thats whats on the docket for tomorrow) but damn it's such a pretty case. For sure, if I saw both cases in person I would grab the Fusion.

Awesome. Can't wait to read your review Crim.

I just bought the NSK2400 for my HTPC.

It rocks.

I would also add that, IMO, the aluminum front, VFD and extra 30 watts of power of the Fusion is not worth another $100.
 
I like the new Ahanix MCE701, which is what i'll be picking up as my next case. The NSK2400 and Fusion are great cases but I don't know why Antec decided to limit you to a mATX board, that just kills those two cases for me.

Yep, a major caveat to be sure, but I don't plan on having more than 4 drives and 4 expansion cards in my htpc, and the (slightly) smaller size of the case is good for my TV stand.

Meh, the smaller board size doesn't bother me. What bothers me is that it only has room for two HDDs.
 
I have the coolermaster case that you picked, and it is a very well laid out case. The HD mount is a bit funky, bit it works very well. The case is pretty quiet. The power supply is smaller as you might have heard, but each rail holds true. I found it very easy to work in and it looks very nice. The front bezel has a very nice feel to it.
