just figured i'd ask what you think the best options for cpu & mobo in this price range would be... the price includes shipping & tax & needs to be before any rebates. max budget $170

there's no microcenters where we live & there is no waiting around for more money. that's it. :)

we live in oklahoma, near tulsa. :) but will probably buy the parts from amazon or newegg, though.. they are not opposed to buying elsewhere, as long as it's a good deal. :)

they use the computer for gaming- guild wars 2, wow, swtor, rift, etc.. mainly mmo's, but also play diablo 3 & various other games.

all righty, thank you for your time. :)

no returns if it's DOA, so no thanks! lol

i have bought things from people on here second hand before & some of the stuff was good, but some of the stuff was bad or didn't work correctly (or at all), like they said it would. i ended up being out the money & had defective products that i couldn't do anything with.

i saw this combo & didn't think it seemed so shabby?..

of course, i know it's not THE BEST, but better than an i3 or used parts... unless someone else has something better?

depending of the games, and if he will use a graphics card it won't be better than an i3

Well, please tell us what the specs of the rest of the system is. No point in recommending good parts if it's going to be used with a bad case or shitty power supply.
