I'm looking to pickup a Conroe proccessor in the near future when they are available, but I'm not sure what the best chipset will be to pair with it. The current intel i965 looks decent, but I heard nForce 5 for intel is right around the corner. Maybe I should wait for that? What about options form Ati? Or future intel chipsets?

Thanks for any suggestions!

THe ati 3200 board was tested with a intel 975X board and the ati board did show better results at everything but that said the 590SLI has not been tested .

I myself am going for the 590SLi , i have a 7950 and i plan to make the most of it.

None yet. Crossing my fingers the DFI NF5 for conroe has ddr-800 + is released early august. The only dfi + conroe board is ddr-667.....eww

By ordering another 7950? One of the selling points for those is that you can run an SLI setup without an SLI motherboard, if memory serves me. In other words, you should be able to use almost any motherboard you want.

For overclockability the Gigabyte 965P-DS3 looks to be the very early winner, it's tough to say though. If you aren't in a rush, wait a week or two to see people's results. I personally have a DS3 on the way and a E6400 pre-order, so I should have results early.
