What's the card to grab these days for around 200? Currently have 9800gtx 512mb. Resolution 1920x1080
 
Find yourself a discount GTX460 1GB for under $200 (they can be found for $185 on newegg). The ATI equivalent is slightly faster/more expensive, the 6870.
 
Don't bother with the 460, you can get a 1GB 6950 for that price. Much better performance compared to the 460. Also, at your resolution the 1gb version should be fine. It'll actually match framerates with the 2GB at that resolution. On a good day you can get one AR for $200.
 
you can find 5870's for less than $200 as well but a lot of them seem to have gone out of stuck
 
His hd6870 is 200 usd on Newegg. And it also has a rebate to bring it lower.

GTX 460 768 for me is fantastic, I'll take functiong drivers that work over ones that don't let you use your cursor on part of the screen.

OP, get this. And use Mr. Rebates cashback for 4% off, or ~$5.50. Final price comes out to $134.xx. In my opinion a fantastic deal considering the cooler and how much it may overclock. Some overclock in the 900+ range and others overclock in the 780 range, it's weird.
 
Zyk, if you are not going to use a sig then please list ALL your specs when asking about upgrades. 99% of people here will not even take the time to ask the basic questions. for all we know, you could have a crappy cpu that would keep you from getting any more performance than your current card.

well a gpu that is going to give you a big enough jump is also going to need to oc that cpu a bit to fully utilize it. coming from a 9800gtx, the very lowest I would go would be a gtx460 1gb. and if you go with with one of those then by all means oc it a bit because it would be a shame not get that easy extra 20-25% more performance. the gtx560 ti can sometimes be found pretty close to $200 so you might want to go with that. again though you will need to oc your cpu too so hopefully you have an aftermarket cooler already.

hmm, if I didn't have an aftermarket cpu cooler which would you suggest? But of course I already have one... yup, no noob here.

well if you have the cooler than oc your cpu no matter what new gpu you get. I would go for the gtx560 ti if you can find one for around 200 bucks. if not then a gtx460 1gb or 6850 would be the next choice.
