Looking for a new headset with a microphone, but I don't want to spend more than about $50 if I can help it. I'm mainly going to use them when I play Diablo 3 with my friends so we can talk to each other. What do you guys recommend with my budget? Thanks!
 
Thanks for those. The Plantronics set doesn't appear to have a mic, which is something I want to have.
 
You definitely can't go wrong with this combo:

JVC HARX900 Headphones + Zalman Zm-Mic1 Clip-on Mic

The total cost will end up slightly above your budget at around $65 shipped but this combo will honestly do you good for a while. In my opinion it is the best value at around $50 shipped.


If your budget is indeed firm, the JVC HARX700 headphones are a decent option for around $20 less.

The GameCon has a flip down mic.

Also, its a good headset, me and my brother both have a pair. The Mic works great.

BUT! I would recommend the Plantronics 995, its wireless with amazing battery life. I work from home doing tech support 14hr shifts. It lasts all day long although I do plug it in to charge on my lunch break (hour).

I have owned/used alot of headsets in my time. For the sub $100 range nothing beats Plantronics.

If you're critical about sound quality you'll get much better bang for your buck with a good budget pair of headphones in your price range (JVC RX700, Samson SR850, etc.) and a $5 Zalman clip on mic attached to the headphone's cable. The downside to the Zalman mic is it's omni directional so it easily picks up background noise.

Heck, even if you spring for a fancier $30 Antlion Modmic boom to attach to your $30-$50 headphones you'll very likely still get a better bang for your buck than with any $50 headset from Creative, Plantronics, etc.

If all you care about is voice comm it probably doesn't matter much, but if you're gonna spend more than $20 on a headset you might as well get something that's better overall and enjoyable for music/solo play.
 
+1 for GameCom 377. I have one and love it. Did a lot of research before I purchased it and the reviews were very positive.
