the original BT doesn't work well on dsl for some reason, are there any better clients out there?

Bit Tornado. Let's you limit the upload speed so you don't saturate you upload bandwidth and kill your download bandwidth. Keep the upload just below your rated speed on your connection. For example, if you have 128 upload, set it for 110.

Also, if your behind a router or firewall, make sure you forward ports 6681 thru 6689 to the PC your running BitTorrent on.

ABC (yet Another Bittorrent Client) is a great one, expands on Tornados code. Azureus is nice, but it's java based so sometimes it can slowdown computers.

I stick with Azureus only because it lets me pick what to download from a torrent. If the torrent is a folder with, say, 5 anime episodes for example, I can choose to not download some of them. I'm on 128kb/s, and I hate waiting for the whole torrent to finish until I can watch an episode. I do hate that it's java based, though. But the positives in my case outweigh the negatives.

BitComet allows the same thing, and in my opinion is the most accessible client because it does some of the hardware firewall config for you - ie you don't have to forward ports, it should do it for you.

i use PTC, which i guess stands for python torrent client since it's written in python apparantly. it seems to work fine but you can tell it's a work in progress. i don't use bt that much nor have i tried any other clients

I use Azureus exclusively now, but in the past I used ABC as well. Strange that I use it even though I'm not a Java fan, huh? Nah, it's good software.

I haven't really looked into the alternatives, but I use G3 and it's pretty nice.

Azureus looks like a nice ap
but its a little difficult to run when youve disabled WSH :p

i didnt like bittornado as much, so i use abc. my network shuts down when usin the wireless and bittorrent, but the wired desktop works great. usually hittin upwards of 90 kbps

It's ports 6881-6889.

I've tried all programs mentioned above except BitComet, and I like PTC best out of them all.
