Best ATI driver?

That is because you aren't debating, you are simply claiming you are right and providing zero evidence to support it. Number of threads on a topic at any given point is not proof of anything. You also aren't taking into account total users of a given brand. If ATI has 2 times the number of problems reported in these forums but there are 4 times as many people using ATI cards here, then ATI has better drivers than nvidia (which will have twice the problems per card than ATI).

There is also the massive flaw in that you assume that everyone with driver problems creates a thread on the topic. When I have driver problems, I search around and find the workaround/fix or revert back to older drivers to solve the problem, I don't create a new thread on the matter. I am willing to bet that that is what a vast majority of the people on these forums do.

So again, either provide VALID EVIDENCE or stop spreading FUD.

So providing more links to ATI problems than to nVidia problems is invalid evidence? So far im the only one who has supported any kind of evidence to support what i say. How bout instead of pointing out what you think are flaws in my own support, you head on over to a few other forums and poke around a bit. If you say its inconclusive, then provide evidence to the contrary. How bout instead of criticizing, you find some support behind what YOU have to say. Until you post some VALID EVIDENCE, discussing this with you is worthless since YOU have nothing to back up your FUD.

I can bump all the threads with nVidia driver problems to the first page if it would mean anything to you. ;)

Go ahead. I would expect someone like you to artificially create support for his arguement.

Always use the latest drivers. If those don't work, roll back to the previous version.

Lol, you think that if there are more threads on the first page, it means that there are more problems with the driver.

When there are more threads on the first page, it just means that the threads are active, that's all. The threads can be active when people post on them, maybe to help the person, to report a problem, to bump the thread, to troll or to do anything else they want. If you want to call that as an evidence then it will just prove that you are posting nothing but FUD.

Oh dont be silly, I looked at the OP dates! The oldest ATI problem was posted on the 27th of Nov. The nVidia problem was posted on the 27th of Nov. So between then and now there have been 4 times as many ATI issues posted. Oh wait youll probably try and tell me that means nothing too right?

I think ive just about had enough of your desperate attempts to bash nVidia.

Might wanna prepare for a flood of GTA4 issue threads in the ATI forum too.

We can only count that as one single issue, i dont want to hurt your ego too much.

Did you actually read the threads as well?

ATI sorted by your own order:
http://www.hardforum.com/showpost.php?p=1033401914&postcount=35
1. Posted by Hard and Confused. If you read back on his posts, he's had extremely many issues. Chances are that its not even about the drivers, but other cause (or trolling).
2. He managed to get it to work with older drivers. I've checked and 8.11 works with old AGP cards. Read this:
This is tested with a X800GTO with cats 8.10 and 8.11. Anybody with a PS2.0b card can support my assumptions?
http://www.gamespot.com/pc/driving/...s.php?topic_id=m-1-45033577&pid=948961&page=2
Could it be by some chance that something else then the drivers made a problem? Considering that the 8.11 actually do support and work with his X800GTO?
3. Happens with both Nvidia and ATI cards. Check the thread for post confirming this. Could it be the game?
4.AA problems with Fallout 3. It got fixed, showing the drivers work. He needed the proper settings. Fallout 3 uses its own AA system btw, so its a bit picky on the driver settings.

Nvidia:
1. There is a long thread about the new "big bang" drivers and problems assosiated with it. Same version as he was getting his problems in (and version before). Question is, does everyone with a 260/280 have those problems, or is it only in some hardware setups? We don't have a confirmed answer about that. Only that the fault repeats itself in many games. The error seems similar to the powerplay error ATI had earlier this year.

All the links show, is someone who has a problem asking for help. It doesn't say that driver from company is better/worse then company b.

Whats the point in discussing this? Its very hard to find solid proof of the claims of Nvidia/ATI have the worst/best drivers. First of all you need to find proof that the driver is the cause of the problem and nothing else, then you need to find out that everyone have that problem with the same drivers. If everyone doesn't have it, then the fault doesn't have to be about the drivers at all or as example a game is faulty by bad coding there. Don't forget that optimized drivers doesn't patch the game for its own bugs and compatibility problems. :p

Tamlin, yes i read them, and yes im aware there is no conclusive evidence or proof that one is better than the other, i happen find it entertaining to debate with people who are totally one-sided and love to spread negative images about a certain company...it just gets right under their skin.

You might get some kicks out of such discussions, but it could have been an otherwise constructive thread if not all this Nvidia drivers vs. ATI drivers. Seems both you AND alg7_munif are tired of such discussion if to read your posts.

Start a thread about crappy game developers instead not being able to make their games compatible to major hardware and instead are leaving it up to GFX companies to try fixing this in their drivers instead. :D

I'm glad that you finally see the light. Like I always said in other threads, both companies have thier own problems with their drivers, just look up for my posts. I'm also glad that you are now able to accept that there is no conclusive evidence or proof that one is better than the other.

I also find that it is entertaining to debate with people who are totally one-sided and love to spread negative images about a certain company or its driver... it just gets right under their skin ;)

You do realize that you are the one who is totally one-sided and loves to spread negative images about a certain company, right? For the last two pages, the only one doing any bashing has been you on ATI - the rest of us have just been trying to defend ATI from baseless flames.

So providing more links to ATI problems than to nVidia problems is invalid evidence?

Correct. All you have shown is that there are more active ATI problem threads (that may or may not be ATI's fault) at this moment in time. Such information is completely useless. Like I have already said (and you have already ignored, so I'm really not sure why I am repeating it - again), you must know the total issues for a given timespan (not just those posted) along with the size of the user base. If there are 10 ATI cards for every 1 nvidia card here, then ATI having 4 times more support threads actually means that ATI has fewer issues per card.

So far im the only one who has supported any kind of evidence to support what i say. You are also the only one claiming anything. Burden of proof lies solely on you. I have not made ANY claims, as such I cannot be spreading FUD.

So again, either backup your original claim, or stop spreading FUD.

But if you insist on useless "evidence" of nothing, here you go:
http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showforum=33

There are 20+ nvidia driver issue threads from today and yesterday alone on the first page and 0 ati driver issue threads. Clearly, nvidia's drivers are utter shit, right?
