I plan to build 4-way SLI for LAMMPS-GPU.

What is best 4-way SLI motherboard?

I just got my eye on Asus Maximus VI Extreme.
 
You will basically want something with 64 PCIE 3.0 Lanes or 16 for each card 8 if you have to, so pretty much a 2011 socket system either x79 (Ivy-E0) or x99. You will probably need a XL-ATX or bigger board for fitting the cards too ;)

The problem with the Maximus VI Extreme is that it will run x16, x8 , x8 , x8 so you may get performance losses (if so tiny) running in that mode
 
This is an old topic but it's the only one that really speaks to me.

Any news on your rig ? Nvidia cards have come a long way since 2014...
