Hi guys.
Got an 1155 MB that had a couple of bent socket pins. I tried it with an i7 and got into BIOS, and was able to start to boot Ubuntu off a USB stick, and it would hang shortly afterwards.
I carefully bent the pins back, and as near as my bad eyes can tell with a magnifying glass, everything looks good.
I booted, and ran memtest, finished fine. Booted into Ubuntu USB stick and was able to browse the network, play some videos, open some pictures, compress some files... Wasn't able to get on the internet (unrelated network issue I need to troubleshoot I'm guessing) and I am really wanting to download and run some benchmark stuff to really beat up the CPU and make sure all is well.
In the meantime, if I have gotten as far as I have described in the aforementioned paragraph, are my chances pretty good that a legit Windows or linux install (full install) would pass the giggle test and probably be reliable? Or are there still some things I need to test? I def want to run a benchmark to stress all cores and get HT going on each one etc.
Open to idea of what else I can try with this board before I give it a shot as a desktop system.
Thanks.
