BenQ's pixel policy

Hello,

I've been lurking here for a good part of 6 months, researching what's the best monitor to replace my aging CRT. I've read many posts about BenQ's monitors and am leaning towards getting one, even though they lack the traditional brick and mortar sales that I prefer when purchasing items that cost half a grand. The only thing holding me back was their pixel policy. Many posts here are of the type "I believe you can send the monitor back if there is one bad pixel - but you might want to check on it". I havent seen anyone reply to this challenge, though perhaps I missed those replies.

I have called BenQ in the past to check on it myself but never received a call back. Today I finally got a human who told me what the policy is and it's not great. What he told me is that the monitor needs **either** of the following before it can be sent back:

3 bad pixels within any square inch
7 bad pixels total

I asked him if these conditions hold even within the first 30 days (I was looking at a BenQ page that said returns can be made within 30 days) and he replied "Yes".

So there you have it. There is, of course, the chance the employee was giving me wrong information.

Perhaps if someone has had an alternative experience with returning a BenQ monitor he/she could share. I love the specs, I love the praise BenQs get, I dont like that I cant see one in a store first, and I definitely dont love that pixel policy.

30 days return policy for any reason.

if you don't have dead pixels in 30 days i think you will be ok.

that IS their pixel policy.

I also spent months to figure BenQ's retun policy out before I made my purchase decision. After all, I can not stand 1 dead pixel. Here is what I got.

I think there are 2 different groups of cusotmer service team and 2 return policies

1) BenQ overall customer service - the policy applies to return from all BenQ's resellers as being a manufacturer (including neweggs/buy.com and etc); this is more strict since this applies to all
cs:(866) 600-2367

2)BenQ online store return policy: 30 days return for any reason(1 single dead pixel) but you need to pay shipping; this only applies to products sold through it's online store http://store.benq.us
store cs: 952-908-4101
HQ direct store contact: 949-255-9481

Apparently you got better protection when you buy directly from BenQ's direct store. This is what I found. Hope will help.

I called the number I originally called and they told me that the online store has a different policy than their "other" policy. They gave me the number for the online store, I called, and they told me that an LCD monitor can indeed be returned within 30 days.

Sorry for any confusion!

Yep. I called the online store number before. You can exchange/return for any reason within 30 days.

and i would have to pay shipping for the return ?
Unless it's defective and/or meets their dead pixel policy, I would imagine so; don't take my word for it. I didn't really ask for much detail, sorry. All I can say is that my V2400W arrived perfectly fine with no noticeable defects.

And luckily for me, my friend works for a company that ships computer parts in bulk. If I give him a package, he gets it shipped for about 1/4 the normal price.
