Ugh, SLI...

You should just buy one 6800GT (or Ultra, if you wish), then upgrade when the GeForce 7800 series is released only a few months from now. SLI is a big waste of money.

I'd also switch out the WD 200 GB hard drive for a Hitachi T7K250. The performance is a bit better, and the drive will be somewhat quieter as well. At $119 for the 250 GB model, it's also cheaper per GB. If your heart is set on WD, that's okay too.

I feel left out with everyone recommending hd's so I will 1up them all!

Dont get a raptor at all, get the WD3200, 320gb drive which is one of the quietest, coolest, and a pretty darn fast drive to boot.

Quietest? Many Samsung drive owners would disagree with that assertion.

I know, I know...SLI. I did do some searching here before I got into it. The small improvements may not be worth the money but I wanted to try it anyway. Since there is something always around the corner, I will sell the cards and get a GeForce 7800 when they come out.

i wouldnt get the sata version of that plextor drive, ive read in other forums that they are having problems. i got the ide version. ive been told not sure if its true there is no difference between the sata version and the ide version other the sata version uses sata cable. been told they both perform the same.

Having the Serial ATA cable is convenient. No worries about jumpers, big IDE cables, and skinned knuckles (from pulling out the power plug!). And Plextor is a reliable brand, to boot.

Yeah, they will preform the same. I got the SATA for cable neatness. I have heard problems with the drive being incompatible with certain motherboards but I am hoping a firmware update and some luck will help IF I have problems.

The Raptor is for the OS and Game Installs. I will probably make 2 partitions.
The 200GB is mainly for file storage.

Well, you're right about that, but the cost/GB figure may be of interest to you anyways.
