Which do you play more of?

Seems to be a lot of bashing both ways so I'm curious as to the percentages of [H] BC2 players that play each.

If they had a HC mode that still allowed tagging and some HUD functionality it would be better. It's hard to play as a team when you can't see who needs health, revives, ammo, enemy targets that you are calling out, etc.

I prefer hardcore. Medics are worth more to people. I can go around solo and kill entire squads from better positioning before needing to reload. Spotting(the orange triangle, not the tampon kind.) is less dangerous. It shafts Recon though, ironically, as it also makes them more deadly. In Hardcore marking and motion mines are reduced in effectiveness as people must go to the map screen to see the results. On the other hand recon can kill more easily with one shot.

As it stands though, I play normal because the HUD isn't nutered.

Played hardcore for a day. It was interesting, but felt like everyone was on the outskirts of the map sniping in on my clueless ass, especially at laguna. Didn't do half bad otherwise. I too wish they had a mode with something in between normal and hardcore.

Hardcore. I do not know how "normal" mode makes it harder. All it does is make players bullet sponges.

Tagging works in hardcore. Bring the menu up! There is a map with little red and blue triangles! Spotting, tagging, and motion mine sensing show up on the map. As far as I know, you can see who needs health/ammo depending on the proximity of you and the other player.

I have always loved games without a HUD, so I am a little biased there, but I do agree that it could use something.

This is a neutered Battlefield after all...so it doesn't count ;)

It also makes shotguns completely useless as there is no ADS on them. I would like to see 40mm iron sights as well.

Normal. Primarily because they need some sort of ironsights for the 40MM grenade in HC.

Normal mode is more like deathmatch. Hardcore mode is more strategy and slower movement.

Different play styles. Choose your poison.

Shotguns in HC (at least the servers I've played) keep their crosshairs when used with 12 gauge slugs. Makes them extremely deadly in HC.

I play HC whenever I can find a server. Only time I dont play HC is when the HC servers are all full and wont let me in (only play on aussie servers).

I think they should have an in between mode... My biggest problem with HC isn't the reduced health, but rather the removal of things that define the game such as spotting, minimap, etc.

But as a side note, all the guns on the console versions do 1.25x damage of the PC. Would that satisfy all the whiners that say, "I unloaded an entire clip into a guy and he didn't die!"

Thats cuz they're unloading 'clips' when the rifles in the game besides the Garand use magazines :D;)

You can see your squad and team player information in hardcore (ammo/health needs). Press M to bring up the map. Spotting works when you press M, just there is no constant radar.

There are tons of people who don't realize spotting exists in hardcore, just thre is no minimap, you need to bring up the megamap. :p

Both. I like HC mostly but it needs a lot of fixes in regards to sights on various mounted weapons and GL's even the kill cams that show your selected spawn point (squad mates or bases/flags) since it's nice to know what you're about to spawn into.

I like both, but play alot more on Normal.

I am the same. It seems like more often then not, and it could be because I haven't found a good hc server, people are just sniping or spamming the CG or 40mm. In normal mode at least I have a chance against the snipers, and a small chance against the explosives. In hc with a server full of these people I have very little chance unless I do the same to them...which is just fun. And like others said it makes it harder to see who needs ammo, health, and having to hit M to see spoting is a downer. But I do like it sometimes. It gives a nice change of pace.

Hardcore all the way. My only issue with HC is sniping is too easy. Getting shot in the foot kills you, should require a headshot for one shot kills IMO.

Hardcore all the way.

Normal gets pretty dumb when you unload your bullets on a guy, see the x popping up and he just keeps running up to you and knifes you. Same goes for rockets. No one should be able to live from a direct hit from a rocket.

Aside from that, I'm not a big fan of the tagging system or people knowing when I throw a nade at them. If they didn't see me throw it, too bad. And the crosshairs are gross.

I like both, it really depends on my mood. All of my clan-mates play hardcore almost exclusively, so I tend to play that more often.

Servers should have finer control over what they enable/disable. Also, something to replace motion mines for snipers in HC would be nice (dart gun anyone?).

I like both, and play them differently. I don't like being sniped in the foot to death, and I don't like unloading my clip/magazine/thingwithbullets into someone and they dont die.

Maybe this is for a different thread, but I also prefer Conquest over Rush.

Personally, I don't get the issue with shots in the foot leading to death.

In real life, if you are shot in the foot with an assault rifle, you are pretty much out of commission.

I can maintain a higher K/D ratio on normal, as I die much less than on hardcore mode.

In HC it doesn't lead to death, it is the cause. In real life, unless you take a .50 cal to the ankle and bleed to death, it won't be the cause of it.

Couldn't vote on my own poll until I got home. Normal player here but would consider certain aspects of hardcore.

Hardcore is the ONLY way to play imho. I never play normal. In fact I would go so far as to say if there were no hardcore servers, I probably wouldn't play the game at all.

I play both, I enjoy it for the most part... I just really wish there were 64 player servers, larger maps with more vehicles... I liked the style that BF 1942 and BF2 provided, this is much smaller scale. Seems to work well, but I really preferred the play style of the predecessors.

HC is dumb and undermines the typical battlefield whackyness.

Instead of slamming a helicopter into a mounted gun, killing the guy on it, jumping out and mowing down 4 other guys before making a dramatic getaway on a jetski you get... people sitting there all game pretending to be a navy seal.

damage is ok for the most part once you get used to it. a burst or two pretty much drop anyone at any range, and if you aim for the head you will drop someone in a fraction of a second. i'll go as far to say if you play hardcore, you are ~* bad at this video game *~

I like the concept of hardcore, but it takes away a lot of my strategy for recon. I run recon with a shotty and spam motion sensors. With the lack of a map, you take away the recons only tool in the game aside from long range spotting.

Hardcore would be my definite preference if all vehicles were also removed. That and keep spotting.*

Just played a few hardcore rounds earlier and it was just people sitting in far corners of the map in those Bradley tanks pounding building walls and killing everyone.

Hardcore mode also eliminates all the 'running face first through my bullets and knifing me' crap that happens WAY too frequently. Seriously, the knife needs to be a selectable weapon ala BF2.

*Pro tip: You still get 'spot kill' points in hardcore if you spot someone and they're killed shortly thereafter. ;)
