BB.com Diablo 3 CE $99.99

I hate my life. I literally just bought the digital copy an hour ago after spending all of yesterday looking for a CE.

I'll wait a couple months for it to be cheaper than the regular retail version, just like SC2.

What is the opinion...? Is this CE worth it or not? Does it come with a cloth map (damn, I miss these, espectially the ones that were actually functional)?

Last CEs I bought were Age of Conan and Skyrim. Was extremely pleased with AoC extras, not so much with Skyrim.

Sitting here debating on buying like 5 and reselling.. still 200$+ on ebay

I am either a cheap skate, a popper or just plain miserable but I can not see myself paying that kind of money for a game.

Good investment, the game will increase in value since Blizzard is probably one of the few game developers that actually make a collectors edition, collector. So this will not be on shelves 6 months from now and the price will only go up.

eh? Has there ever been a game's CE that actually increased its value over time?

The original WoW collector's edition, unopened, can fetch hundreds on ebay.

I've seen auctions for the original CE set in the shrinkwrap sell for over $1000 on Ebay.

Unlike say, Rift where you can still buy the CE, Blizzard only makes a fixed amount and then no more, so you better grab the CE when you see it if you want it.

This and the fact that having Diablo 3 CE on your Blizz account gives you collector pets in WOW since people love that crap.

I wish I still had the case and goodies for my diablo 2. I do have the jewel case and discs still though. Blizzard makes nice CEs although they make a lot more than they used too.

I'm not so sure any anymore, maybe several years from now. Blizzard just makes a ton of them now that pretty much anyone who wants to buy one can get one. I still saw SC2: CE at my Fry's for about a year after release, even discounted to 80 bucks they still didn't sell out all their stock. People right now are struggling to break even with SC2 CE and Cataclysm CE is going for 60 on eBay. WotLK is making good profit now though.

To buy it and have it sit somewhere for at least a year until all retail stock is exhausted to make 50 bucks probably isn't worth it. But who knows when its all long gone. Its certainly not an income you can depend on.

Is it just me, or is it listed as out of stock online, and only available in select stores? I went to one of the local stores that listed it as being available in store only, and the person in the gaming section there told me that even if they had any, they were all only to fill preorders.

I had actually checked last night as well, with it having the same thing of being listed as out of stock online. Has it been going in and out of stock when I haven't noticed it?

I have an extra im sitting on...not sure I should keep or sell now....

I did the same thing about three hours ago. Web page said they were available in stores. Got there, they didn't have any. Pulled the page up, still said available. Clerk said it was wrong and even went and grabbed some other person to make sure since his web page also said it was available.

they have it in stock but whatever stock they got is the preorders that haven't been picked up yet...

Yeah, it would seem that common sense would lead you to believe that if the page said, in stock. But it doesn't say that. It says, available in store; not available for pre-order pick up in store. Half a bait and switch. Just another idiotic thing they do. And some people wonder why folks don't buy stuff there and they're closing stores.

Someone in our Rift guild snagged one when I mentioned it earlier today, he said it's marked as shipped and he got a tracking number, so they had SOME at least.

Grats to those who managed to get one.

The original WoW CE still goes for quite a bit. The TBC CE can still be sold for a profit. After that? Either interest in CEs dropped or Blizzard began overproducing (or both), because I clearly remember walking into Fry's about a year and a half after WotLK came out and seeing literally dozens upon dozens of CEs on the shelves being sold for $40. Walked into Best Buy a few weeks later and saw quite a few there as well, albeit for a bit more. I saw the same thing with Cataclysm CEs about 4 months ago, also being sold for $40.

I'm not sure how limited the Diablo 3 CE is but I wouldn't be surprised if the same thing happens.

Mine has a shipping label. I also hit confirm on my order within less than 90 seconds of it going up thanks to...

http://www.zoolert.com/diablo-iii-collector-edition-in-stock-tracker/

Well, within 90 seconds of the rooster alarm and txting to my phone, assuming they see something in-stock fast.

I'm surprised the CE is uncommon this time around, since there were SC2 CE boxes EVERYWHERE. I normally hate most CE offerings, but I've always like getting the Blizzard ones, so I was willing to hold out for a Diablo 3 copy.

Around my area all the CEs sell out day 1, Cataclysm you can still find on amazon but everything else is dead afaik.

Now all they have to do is keep Battle.net up and running for longer than an hour :D.

Is this actually worth buying and reselling later?

If you factor in the game itself being ~$50, the rest would cost you ~$50. If you think you can get >$50 for the rest of the contents minus the actual game, might be worth buying. Guss it would depend on how much effort it would take to sell and where you sell it (fees, etc.)

Appreciate the heads up, apparently I lucked out and snagged 1 online. Time to forget about it for a few months until they become really scarse..

I have an extra im sitting on...not sure I should keep or sell now....

If you look on Amazon Marketplace, it's selling for close to $240 at the highest.

Seeing that it costs $99 for the box, $107 after tax (sans shipping), getting between $100 to $150 profit off the collector's edition does sound tempting.

I still have my CD and DVD from the D2 CE.

I don't even have the game anymore but i kept those.

Called my local Best Buy, they said they didn't have any but another store about 45minutes away had 67, I called that store and they said they were sold out, probably the inventory from pre-orders

My local best buy just updated with stock. Wife is out and about as we speak... wonder if I can talk her into stopping by?

Got my copy today, having second thoughts on actually keeping it after seeing the $200 price this thing fetches on ebay :p oh well guess I should've bought 2.

I have two CE's (Amazon canceled my 3rd), and will likely sell them after things stabilize and the new WoW expansion pack comes out. When it was announced that you can fight the pets in the new WoW expansion, my last original, unopened WoW CE sold for $1100. Well worth that initial investment I made a few years ago :D.
