Bayonetta

All you do in Mario is jump around.

I know!!! I fucking hate that!!!

:D

Flip around and attack... BS. There are tons of complex combos. You can pick up your enemies' weapons. You can summon large monsters to kill things, there are hidden areas, giant boss fights. The story is good (if completely ridiculous). I mean REALLY ridiculous but in a completely fun way. The environments are varied, the monsters/angels are as well. You get about a billion upgrades extra skills, multiple weapon sets. All of this while the game runs silky smoothly with about as accurate and tight of controls as any game has ever had.

Sure, some people don't like this type of game, but it's one of the best examples of the genre ever created.

After having played for about an hour, my first impression is, this is essentially Devil May Cry with a female Dante, and less seriousness in the plot, but still a fun game.

Finished the game it's great IMO. Freakin Hard mode is crazy. It starts off with enemies you didn't see till later on normal appear right at the start. Then I got stuck cause you really have to know what you are doing to get past this first section:
You have 4 minutes to do 3 torture attacks but dam it's hard to keep up the magic bar filled when one hit from an enemy basically reduces the magic bar by half. Two hits and you are starting from nothing. I have gotten 2/3 and I run out of time. It insta-kills you when time runs out.

I'd argue that it's better than DMC, it just feels more responsive. Bayonetta 2 is even better paced.
