If that is in game graphics....YES!!!

Now I need a bigger psu, another 480gtx soc, 3X 30" screens,

oh and a raise

TL DR for the article that was posted above.
E3 2011: Battlefield 3's Multiplayer -- Experience in Action

Classes were redesigned:
Assault/Riflemen are now the Medics (like BF2142)
Support returns as the LMG + Ammo Pack + Suppression (Red Orchestra anyone?)
Sniper is the same long range and explosives
Engineer is the same AT and Repair

Vehicles now regen a small amount of health (You still need an Engineer to heal to full)
Vehicles can also be immobilized right before destruction, forcing an Engineer to intervene to save it, and giving the passengers a chance to bail out

Inclusion of prone and the ability to opt out of revive
Prone Balance: Lens will flash if a player looks at it, and getting up and laying down takes time that will cost you if someone is close

I hope there are more changes.

Personally, and this may just be me, I'd like to see AT mines changed somewhat. Maybe add a spec for additional armor but only on the undercarriage. Seems like the start of the map is nothing but a bunch of engi's running around placing mines everywhere. Although now that I think about it, this should be much less of an issue with the bigger maps of BF3 than in BC2 as it is now.

Wow. I love the ideas in that article, thanks for linking it. Actual suppressing fire really should add a lot to teamplay and add a whole new layer to the game. Put down some smoke, then covering fire to go take an mcom...awesome.

i agree, the way they're handling suppressive fire sounds really cool. should add a new level of strategy.

amen to that. and i :D at the raise part.

the ability to opt out of revive

I hope that doesn't screw the support player of points for the revive. What if the support player thinks it's a good spot to revive but the fallen player doesn't think so? The fallen gets the say no matter what? I'm a reviver when I play support so I like my revive points whether or not my judgement is sound. I'm nitpicking now. :)

It really only helps the stat padders. You know, the guys with 5:1 k/d ratios. Seriously I think maybe one out of 5 of the revives I get are bad. Dont die, or snipe, easy way to avoid the revives.

Who actually cares about points? I'm level 49 in BC2 and got there just by enjoying myself.

I need a new PSU and another 6870 for this game, anyone wanna donate to the "poor me fund" :)

Has anyone heard of this game will support hardware audio acceleration? All BF2 and 2142 did. Now I know DirectSound is gone but Dirt2 supports hardware audio and I'm hoping this will too... Or at LEAST be fully OpenAL compliant so the X-Fi driver can grab the audio stream and decode it in the DSP on the card.

Nope, I am almost certain they are following the path of BC2.

Damn I was looking for that around 4:30 and couldn't find it. It's still on but i missed almost an hour. Could someone post the entire thing if its up somewhere after?

If not now, I'm sure the entire thing will end up on youtube by tonight, or at least the highlights.

After hearing how BC2 sounds I don't think we need audio hardware acceleration anymore.

Software seems way more flexible and scalable.

Fudge... hope that's not true.

Hardware sound is dead, mixing on the cpu is faster and more flexible. 128 channels with x-f? Snore, try infinite.

Dice has the best sound engine and design out right now

Nothing really big happened. DICE is keeping tight lipped on releasing any new information in their interviews still.

They did show the game room for a bit. Showed people playing on the Operation Metro map on PC's and one guy who was using a 360 controller hooked up to a PC.They did say there will be more MP gameplay soon though.

we still need it. the problem is there are still limitations to what software can do and using the cpu has the sole audio accelerator just doesn't work. one of the many downsides to console ports. thankfully BF3 isn't a console port so it will have true hardware acceleration so we can use our damn sound cards again.

like posted above the limitation of hardware audio acceleration is due to BFBC2 being a console port. the ps3/xbox 360 uses processor accelerated audio and thus that is what was used in the ported version as well. same reason with dirt 2 which was designed for pc and supported hardware audio even though the game still had that console feel to it.

fucking waste of time this stream. nothing new.

Plus "god save the queen" FUCK OFF u twat!

is that the first stupid think americans think of a british person? i hope not. That presenter is a right retard. if i was that british guy and he said that to me i would have given him a slap

Most likely those are B-1 Lancer's.

Agreed..

I'm not sold on this at all... I'll go read up then I can contribute some more :D.

yes nothing knew except the 2 parts from the game pit, first wasn't really informative but the second was nice, the last player finally used prone :) and there is a flash light (hey everyone I'm here).

Wow the mantling/vaulting in this game is pure awesome. It looks like its setup like Brink. You sprint towards a low wall or something and you see your character automatically jump over it (from the uStream).

The Operation Metro level looks pretty cool too, but haven't had the chance to see people blowing up walls or in vehicles in this part of the map yet.

Support class can get points for suppressive fire.

If I heard correctly dedicated servers only through server providers like BC2.

Ha! Some Respawn Entertainment guys were at the BF3 Game Room (one was an artist, not sure about the other).

Flashlights can distort players, hell yea.

Squad size is confirmed to be 4 players with a squad leader (enemies can see who the squad leader is :D)

hardware audio acceleration doesn't exist anymore, not with windows7/vista.

That's not true. Any OpenAL audio is still done 100% by the X-Fi DSP on the card. That was my point on my post. If the games uses OpenAL for it's own that part will be offloaded from the CPU to the card. The 3D positional audio might not be offloaded and still done in the game though.

If you read around you'll see about the OpenAL part.

edit:
Here's the article from Creative saying how OpenAL allows the hardware to work directly with the driver. http://connect.creativelabs.com/openal/OpenAL Wiki/OpenAL® and Windows Vista™.aspx

The direct sound wiki page also states if the OpenAL driver is used it can be hardware accelerated with the correct driver from the manufacturor:

Only four to a squad, I was hoping for Six.

Because they are going the route of MW3 and being lazy as fuck. Wow, I can't believe almost every aspect of this game beyond the graphics and destruction is leaning towards a step backwards from BF2. Downright shameful.

Only took four years but I think we have our Crysis killer in terms of visuals. From the small snips of multiplayer footage, it looks like the graphics will hold up just as well.

I thought this was a terrible idea when I first started BC2 but I warmed to it. It keeps the squad-spawning to an acceptable level and forces the whole team to work together more closely instead of having one squad guy hiding somewhere. I welcome the 4-player squad with open arms now. :)

I think that's a pretty unfair statement considering the subject is 4 vs 6 person squads. If anything I'd say they are leaning more towards BC2. When watching the stream today, they had a lot of people talking about BF3 that hadn't gotten into the series until 2142, so they almost completely missed out on BF2. Was frustrating to watch as a fan of BF2 and a fan to a lesser extent of BC2. Then again, I saw it taking this direction from the very first few trailers, when there was almost no recoil on the guns. It's sadly also probably the smart decision for them. I'm sure it will still be a great game, as I consider BC2 to be good and this will only improve on that, and move slightly closer to BF2.

Confession - I have never played a BF game, and barely online squad based games. Yet after seeing I am almost sure I want to build a new pc and get this! Black Hawk Down is my fav movie and I cannot imagine anything closer to that experience than this game (except perhaps a BHD mod - does such a thing exist?).

Should I pick up BC2 to prepare for BF3?

"Recommended system requirements - quad core"

Will my Q6600 with 6GB DDR2 be enough? I will of course upgrade video card to whatever is available for <$150 at the time.

You don't need to but it's constantly on sale, usually around $10-15, so you might as well. It's good fun, and you can get a peak into what it's like to play with destructible environments.

Damn, $15? You should be able to get it cheaper somwhere else...consiering the age now. Great game back then, couple friends and I would spend so much time in the helicoperts that just taxied around shooting AT4's at each other.

i never purchased the actual game, but i played the shit out of the mp demo. by the time the game launched i had burnt out on it and moved on to other things. good times while it lasted though :D
