It didn't, it took the pilot out which I don't see why is so implausible if a chopper is just hovering in front of you.

Totally agree that a chopper hovering could potentially be shot down (though downdraft from the rotors would probably effect bullet trajectory, not sure) by a sniper but a jet....come on, thats pretty outlandish/freak occurence. They should code it so that on the runway and below a certain speed, it can be possible, but once the aircraft reaches a certain speed it becomes invulnerable to small arms. Not cause an aircraft is that strong, but because actually being able to hit something moving THAT fast is pretty difficult to pull off.

I complained about this earlier in the thread. You should only be hitting the bolt release when inserting a fresh mag. I think it was done just so the uneducated console masses can go all gooey eyed over locking and loading as it has been engrained into us by stupid movies where you cock guns every 5 seconds and when you move them around in the air, they make even more cocking sounds.

Totally agree...it really takes me out of the movie when you see action hero stereotype man rock the charging handle more times then he pulls the trigger. Or, even worse, one of the Matrix movies has the chick "firing" a desert eagle with the slide locked back if i remember right...friggin horrible, though I just tack that up to personal experiance.

To be honest, if we're speaking in terms of animations being designed to look gung-ho and action hero-style then in my opinion the smack looks pretty much the same as the use of the charging handle. My only experience with the AR platform is from a family friend who's a little older now (Vietnam-era) but both serve the same purpose and whilst one might not be the technique in use today I don't see it as being any more ridiculous than slapping bolt release.

Also, some people have raised some points about it being a longer reload animation to balance out the multiplayer.

You know a game looks good when people start complaining about the reload animation.

I .50 cal pilots out of jets all day which reminds me of my greatest BF2 moment ever. My buddy and I were playing together on separate teams on Gulf of Oman and I was on top of the huge crane in the middle sniping people off so my friend came over with a helicopter to kill me. He was kind of hovering in front of me so I decided to take a random shot with my .50 cal, unexpectedly killing him. It totally suprised both of us because we never knew you could kill people through the cockpits with snipers (at least the .50 cal). Oh so many good memories playing BF2.

Lolz! Thats why I cant wait

The Dev commentary version has been released (early) by EA Greece. Apparently no one told them not too...

Hah, there are some youtube "commentators" crying up a mighty whinge-storm about getting jipped by DICE and the PC crowd in having no console footage out yet, getting smaller maps and only 24-player counts.

Why should DICE invest in giving the console versions huge maps and high player counts when COD's pathetic 6v6 in tin-shed maps is rampantly popular, and then epic-scale console FPS games like MAG flop? There is simply not a big enough market for BF2-style online FPS games as it stands on consoles unless they finally start to reject COD and Halo en masse. Right now, Homefront and Bad Company 2 are at the very edge of what the majority of that crowd can handle.

boo-hoo, to all the console people! Wonder if there are ever goin to multi-port connection MP with this game, like that was talked about in the past. Than the console ppl really would get their a$$ handed to them, lolz!

Oh god, could you imagine? They already think we hack enough as it is, they think everyone on PC is hacking everytime we shot them.

Totally unnecessary to make it invulnerable to small arms, the game engine already understands bullet trajectory and bullet travel time so hitting fast moving objects at distance is already as hard as it should be.

If the engine remains the same and they put jets in multiplayer then hitting them will small arms will be incredibly hard, near on impossible.

my favorite moment of BF2.

me and about 9 other guys that regularly played together, 2 squads of guys, all apparently engineers at just the right moment.

In FuShe Pass, we were at the top of a hill by one of the gazebos.
a helicopter comes up into view over the top of the hill. and all 5 of us as engineers popped up from a crouch and launch rockets at the chopper.

that was single handledly the greatest team kill I'd witnessed in a long time. I wish I'd had fraps or something running just to remember that in video forever.

You mean you were all anti-tank? I thought engineers had shotguns/SMGs and land mines in BF2.

Yeah, he was probably an AT in BF2 in that scenario. Someone has been playing a little too much BC2 :p

Agreed, though its obviously not any where near a simulation, the game uses a fairly complex physics model, if a person on the ground can lead your jet off enough and compensate for the drop at such an extreme angle he or she deserves the reward for plugging a 50 through the cockpit.

Hope my flashed 2x6950 will be sufficient for eyefinity on this beauty of a game :D

I have high expectations... 5760x1080 goodness!

as i work in the aeronautic industry, i would be extremely surprised if a .50 cal bullet would go thru a fighter cockpit; for two reason : while behing extremely resistant, the polycarbonate will flex upon impact, absorbing the shock and since a canopy is aerodinamic and sleek, chance are that the bullet will not hit at a 90degree angle, thus reducing the ammount of energy transfered to the window. Explosive ammunition are a much bigger threat to fighter cockpit.

I cant believe I didnt spot this the first time around but they have the reload procedure for the M16 wrong. When you run out of rounds, the bolt locks to the rear so once you put a fresh mag in you can just hit the bolt catch on the left side of the rifle to let the bolt slide home and chamber another round. you CAN pull the charging handle like the animation does but its highly inefficient and clunky. Guess I should say its procedurally wrong...you'll never see anyone reload like that, especially in an intense situation.

I'm not a gun expert but it could be done to balance things out, I mean AK's probably take longer to reload and in the MP basic guns have to have the same time to reload... Assuming that m16 and AK's won't be unlockables. I know the video is SP but I think you know what I mean.

It's possible, I didn't have much hands on time with an AK but I don't believe it has the same bolt catch like the M16 does. In fact, the damn thing is only made up of like...four pieces lol. Though the AK has a shorter bolt travel which makes chambering a round much quicker actually. Course, this is all going off experiances that are coming up close to a decade old and my memory is usually only good for about 24 hours :D

AK = faster reload than M16 or any of the AR family of rifles. In real life of course, games make it seem slower. The only thing that is slight difficult is sometimes the banana clip doesn't play nice with you but very rarely. This is going off of a russian AK and AR-15 out shooting. I could be wrong about this though.

MAG flopped because it was stale and boring. Not because a race of human lesser than you didn't get it.

Call of Duty may feature 1/20th size player counts compared to MAG, but it offers much more realized and interesting game modes.

There is nothing special about you. You are not some exclusive race of human that has followed some higher calling through natural segregation to your "chosen' gaming platform. Call of Duty outsells Battlefield on PC as well.

The console market is huge and is very much prepared to accept good games. MAG flopped because it was boring.

DICE's 24 player count for consoles is purely driven by the fact that the current form of the Frostbite engine cannot fit 50+ players into such a small RAM footprint. It has nothing to do with ANYTHING else.

I actually chose to exclusively play BC2 on PS3, despite clear graphical advantages in the PC version. Blu-ray.com has a great community for BC2 and gaming in general. and it plays really well on PS3. I maintain over 80% accuracy with the M2 Carl Gustav and 25% with the M1 Garand.

Halo has really good multiplayer BTW. Sure, its game modes may not interest some people, but I have to laugh when people try to pan Halo's MP. It is probably the single most balanced modern multiplayer game available. It also has incredible matchmaking and some other great features like universal match recording for all players.

Considering you've come here with a hostile attitude and tone, I don't feel particularly inclined to debate anything with you. My point was that games with low player counts are more popular on consoles than ones with high counts. If COD and Halo wanted higher player counts they easily could have them, so there must be a reason why they choose not to do so.

Now now ladies, lets keep it civilized here...we don't need a mod. throwing down the ban hammer.

I felt the full length "Fault Line" vid was a good show of the Frostbite 2 engine & I look forward to playing it.

it flopped ebcause it was ehavily team orinetated like SOCOM

Like what? Its the same old corridor shooter with next to no team orientated aspects.

The person you quoted is not giving this impression though and who said COD doesnt outsell BF games?

Its huge but many wanta pick up and play game that looks pretty. The consoles are very limited to what they can do. Arma 2 could never be ported to he current gen consoles. not enough buttons in th ejoypad for example and the hardware cant handle that engine as well as crysis 1 engine as tha had to be dumbed down dramatically for crysis 2

No. Its because of the bandwidth of these consoles using p2p gaming not dedicated servers

Agree to disagree as halo for me is a average game

Yeah... erm, no.

Why do you think in 3-gun ARs are used? The simple fact that you have to pull the charging handle on the AK while the AR you have to slap the bolt release saves time. Add in a BAD and you don't even have to do that.

Take for example if you're in a confined space or shooting while laying on your right side - gonna get tricky really quick.

I'm sure it will run, but not maxed out. None of us know for sure, but BFBC2 I would assume is a good reference point though - I am running the same cards as you, just in trifire and have already planned on going quadfire for BF3 or upgrading to the 7000 series (if out and a good jump).

Ummm wha? You ever had hands on with a real firearm?
AK=rock and lock for dropping the empty and inserting the loaded mag.
AR type = hit mag release with trigger finger while pulling the loaded mag from whatever you use aas a mag carrier and inserting straight up until it locks in, then slapping bolt release with left hand.
Yopu have to be REAL fing fast with an AK to equal what a tyro can do with an AR, plus the AR will never disrupt the sight picture through all that.

You can reload an AR rifle without disrupting your vision on your target? You're a beast if you're being honest.
