Quit yer bitchen :p

I have 6.0% downloaded with 5 hours left till it finishes.

The full 100% copy at 60fps is on Vimeo, sign in with an account to download. 2.6GB. :)

Is there a difference between this and the 1.8 GB file on the EA server?

Disappointed in the 12 min trailer, was hoping for new footage but they just basically stitched together the 3 episodes. Game looks great beyond that though, especially impressive that its running on a single GTX 580.

I hope that crossfire 6970s can run it at 60+ fps with a 2500k

Easily. The pre-alpha unoptimized build of is running at high settings on a single GTX 580 at what we assume to be atleast 1920x1080. The final build will be much more optimized and I will be fairly certain that a single GTX 560 Ti could probably play it at 1080p on high settings.

Fairly sure that any Crossfire or SLI of the HD 5800/6800/6900 or the GTX 400/500 cards will be able to max out the game on the final build at at least 2560x1600 at max settings and AA/AF cranked up (probably more VRam will be needed to crank the AA and resolution up though) with 50-60 FPS.

Just finished watching it and while it looks awesome and the sounds are great..the scripting is HORRIBLE lol. Maybe its just the background experiance, but once the "LT" opened his mouth, it was over. Anybody else notice they used the bad guy sound effects from MoH...can hear them yelling in the first fire fight.

After seeing the trailer, im not expecting much from the single player...though tbh, I probably won't even start it up, lol.

Again, it's Pre-Alpha. They might have place holder dialog, sound effects, etc...

I agree. The sp is only there as an additional item that they can entice the COD and console horde with. The last 3 COD single player campaigns have been less than 6 hours long. BF3 is expected to be a 12 hour long sp campaign. Whether that is true or not has yet to be determined, but EA/DICE and their marketing teams are going to be saying anything and everything up until release. This is probably their best shot of putting a dent in the COD juggernaut, especially if MW3 is another re-hash with nothing too innovative.

At this point, all the single player footage they have shown thus far is simply a tech demo to show off the graphics, physics/destructible environments, and the gun mechanics. They also happen to show off some key things that should carry over to mp such as prone, jets, and small proof it is designed for PC first (DX11 effects, WASD popping up on the screen).

If you look at the video from this perspective, its not a bad demo at all.;)

I have no doubt in my mind that DICE will show off mp footage sometime soon once they get the closed Beta up and running. They did the same thing with BC2 after all...

Multiplayer/extra BF3 footage will be shown early or late July.

As far as preordering the game, I'm impressed with the eye candy, but i doubt that only people who have pre-ordered will get 4 classic BF2 maps to play with.

Seems like a money milking deployment scheme by Dice, and then when retail comes out, Dice is like " Ohh... we tricked you, All copies has the 4 classic maps to play the new frostbite engine in"

To me it looks like its running at most 30 fps...playable but I'd want to get 60 fps avg on high @ 1920x1200 with 4xAA. I suppose dual 570's will be on tap...or perhaps the next gpu Nvidia releases.

I remember when BF2 was released...Nvidia held GeForce Lan 2. I'm hoping history repeats itself.

Hopefully the game isn't a let down like the past few have been. I am hopeful though, maybe finally there will be a game that could compete with MW2.

for the price of pre-order its worth it though.. considering most pre-order prices are between 40-50 dollars. odd's are the final price on day of release will be 60 dollars. so even if everyone ends up with the maps its worth pre-ordering.

pro-insider tip... MW3 is another rehash of the COD5 WaW dx9 engine(which is a modified version of the COD4 engine) and will be released a couple weeks before or a couple weeks after BF3... but shhh you didn't hear that from me.. :p

REALLY? No one could have possibly predicted that...
Another COD built on the ancient quake 3 engine from 1999 and still using DX9 like the original COD game did back in 2003? Oh wait...did you say that it would be released sometime in Q4 just like the past 7 games have been? Next thing you will tell me is that the multiplayer will be exactly the same run down a hallway, turn corner and shoot, zero tactics or teamwork snore fest that Counterstrike perfected back in 2000 (and still does better)...oh wait...

HOLY SHIT!!!! You are a god damn fortune teller aren't you? WITCH!! WITCH!! Burn him!
:p
~~~~~
BTW, thanks for the laugh. I needed that. I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this way about COD.
lol.. no problem. but the fact is nothing is changing.. based on what my friend was saying that works for activision, hes not sure how many people are going to continue to stick around and deal with this shit. most of them want to actually do something new and different, not re-skin COD4 every year and call it a new game. if anything BF3 will either sink whats left of the COD series or finally force them to actually release something completely new.
I wish I could agree with you but I really think its going to take at least 2 generations of crappy COD before the masses catch on. So we have the 1st generation that was the "milestone" for gaming already released and this upcoming one will be the rehash crap for the 2nd generation. If it's nothing new, then its going to fade into the background and the 3rd will sell just nowhere near as good as the first two.
Because im a PH.D. educated and highly experianced analyst, I predict EA will make 80-85% of what they made off of last year's COD on the upcoming one*.
*Reported education and experiance may not be true.
The next COD will sell extremely well...but I think the numbers playing it online will drop off pretty quickly due to how stale the franchise has become.
I think you underestimate the capability of fourteen year-olds to enjoy anything with the most outlandish plot and weaponry.
No attempt to denigrate all CoD players there, but it does seem to be that the main demographic for CoD games these days are Xbox players in their teens and Jersey Shore stars.
I probably do, yeah...either way, I think Battlefield 3 will benefit from the absence of those kinds of players :).
I've said this a couple of times before, but generally speaking I've found the PC BFBC2 players are much more objective-orientated than the console players. Rolling with a team full of Recons in Rush was pretty common on the 360 during BC2's first few months of release, who probably did come from COD to see what all the hoohah was about before getting pulled back into CODMW2.
Finally got to watch the 1080p version of the trailer.
It's almost like watching a new trailer since you can see all the little details (some good, some bad) that are missed when watching it on YouTube.
I am looking forward to this game (SP just as much as MP)
Since this does have a single player AI, I hope that means we can play the multiplayer with bots, just like we able to in BF2.
With all this excitement over BF3 I'd be interested to see what the next CoD offering is, actually. I wouldn't be surprised if they were resting on their laurels and letting the franchise name do the selling for them, but that would be a pretty arrogant approach. Maybe this'll give them an incentive to actually bring the CoD series back to the incredible standards it used to meet before CoD4 sent everything rolling downhill.
Its looking good, though I hope it doesn't become too scripted in SP.
Holy f-ing shit. That 12 minute video was excellent. It was a lot of what we have seen before, but watching it fully really did it justice. I know it's still early, but I'm not quite sure how I felt about the exploding cars flipping, it looked off to me. Overall, I haven't been this excited on gameplay footage since early Crysis footage.
Not terribly impressed with the 12 minute video. Simply all the video's we've already seen strung together. It was cool watching them the first dozen times, now it's just getting repetitive. I REALLY want to see what the MP is all about. I don't think I'll be terribly impressed with any SP footage at this point.
I think that is what most people here are thinking. Give us the MP trailers already!
I wasn't as impressed with the 12 min trailer as well(watched from youtube)... but then I downloaded that 2GB 1080p video that someone posted here
and it blew me away. Felt like i already had a beast computer, and AI was playing for me. The level of detail were so immaculate and eyeTONIC. (You need a 1080p or higher monitor to really be impressed tho)
I know a couple console fanboy friends. I'm positive if i show them that 2GB video, they'll throw their consoles out the window =P
Well thats fine and dandy if you're watching this to get a graphics erection. I'm referring to the slightly more important topic of actual gameplay.
You underestimate the console cattle young grasshopper. :D
Well I just checked out the big download file. Noticed a few things I didn't with the streaming stuff, like when they show off the fire modes right after the RPG and whatnot.
I might be imagining this, tell me if anyone else gets it - the sound of the gunfire coming from the player's gun actually seems to vary depending on what he's facing, almost like it changes in pitch due to the soundwaves bouncing around. Look at 4:40 to 4:47 to see what I'm talking about. I thought it might be some kind of placeholder sound file for semi-auto fire, but it changes in full-auto too. I doubt they've paid that much attention to the sound design and this is just me hearing things, but if they had I'd be impressed.
There is a gamespot interview with the guy in charge of sound design and he said that Bad Company 2's sound pretty much doesn't compare to what Battlefield 3 will sound like. Yeah it could be spin but DICE's recent sound work has been great so it's definitely in their capabilities.
A little dissapointed they just strung the videos together, but watching it at 1080p was awesome. Now bring on the multiplayer footage :D
May have to break my 2-yr videocard upgrade rule just to max this game out.
