Oh, and being a tanker I am looking forward to my near invincible health regenerating tanks. I have been racking up kills of around 48:2 with tanks in a single round on BC2 lately, maybe I will be able to break the 100 kill barrier in BF3.

if u play agaisnt noobs its easy.
;)

So you see BF series as a bunch of vehicles and large maps with lots of people? You and I have a completely different view of it. I still play BF2, BF2142, and some BF1942 even to this day.

All I have to say is, it took massive pressure from the EA forums to even get a communication system in. This game is a massive step backwards from the previous BF games in the series in every way but destruction and graphics.

-No Commander
-No Squad leader
-No use for Medics or engineers.
-An equal emphasis on the Single player and COD ripoff modes like Team Deathmatch.

This is not a proper BF game, almost every attribute can be attributed to BC2, which DICE themselves even states was not a core BF game. This is a hack job piece of shit, but no one here is expected to realize that because their eyes are glazed over by the graphics and exposure to console ported Bad Company games.

Um, yeah, no. I actually played the game. I'm judging by the gameplay, not graphics. You, on the other hand, are clearly judging based on a sheet of paper and a list of known features.

Those first three complaints were never really in doubt. Command Rose on the other hand and 3D-Spotting were only addressed thanks to the MASSIVE outcry in the alpha and EA forums where there were literally thousands of users imploring DICE to introduce the CommRose and to get rid of 3D spotting. I am willing to bet those aspects would have been left intact if not for people kicking up a monumental stink.

BULLSHIT.

Commo Rose was already going to be done, it was just not fully implemented in the alpha.

Apparently you missed that in the alpha code itself had references to the commo rose system. Google it, or just look back in this thread where people posted the links.

Love battlefield and well said.
Kids have no patience, I am 47 (own the kids) and still play battlefield series due to the game-play which isn't fps shooter first but tactical and strategic.
Hey! Some kids are patient :p

I'm 19 and I've played and loved just about every Battlefield game. Started young, too...I think I was 12 when I first started playing them. It was my first foray into online gaming and an experience that I will never forget.

All of my friends are totally into the CoD thing as is to be expect from people of my age group, but personally I can't really stand playing them. I've tried to play CoD games with my friends in hopes that I might find it more fun than playing by myself (I play BC2 by myself and I still have a blast) but it just feels like mindless action to me, not in the sense that I have poor reaction times or anything, but in the sense that there's just too damn much going on at one time. It feels like a Michael Bay movie.

I don't think it's an argument between twitch (CoD) and tactical/strategic (BC2). I definitely enjoy twitch shooters - well, if you count CS, which I've also logged hundreds of hours on. I think my issue with CoD is that it tries to be a twitch shooter while also trying to make it strategic, but then it throws all that out the window in the way that it encourages Rambo-style gameplay and basically throws you into a FFA mode. That and all the raging kids on XBL :p

While that's true, some people were rightly cynical since CODMW2 had dedicated servers and modding all in its code as well.

Bullshit nothing, it was not implemented at all. I am very well aware that the alpha code had references to it, but that really does not mean shit. You find all manner of stuff that coders leave behind in retail releases which never see the light of day....feel free to google how many references to features people found in BF2 that never made it into the final release.

Its all about friends and teamwork, got friends since Bf2 squadwork and people still know my name from there.
I am famous ;)

Die hard 4 Bf3 atm.
:D

So many games these days seem to have a large hardcore following that want to keep a game true to its roots, and theres nothing wrong with that. Theres also (and what seems like the majority) the casual gamers that either play on a console or just want the game to not require as much of a hardcore ruleset that some people are hoping for.

It would really be nice if developers would listen to both communities and just make server side options very detailed so that its up to the player what they want their play experience to be like. Sure it adds more coding, but when your budget has so many millions of dollars in the first place, it cant be that hard to include some more advanced options.

You CoD-is-for-kids-Battlefield-is-mature-and-tactical types crack me up... Try ARMA.

This has nothing to do with anything. You said it did not exist, was never going to happen, UNTIL people whined. You, with 0 proof, are making bullshit up.

And in fact Daniel Matros from DICE has stated in an interview that those changes were based on the feedback received after the alpha.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t3fRvbXD_BA

No he doesn't. He says they listened to what people said, and mentions 2 new/different things in this build compared to the alpha test. One of the things he mentions, 3D spotting, was already specifically said to be a place holder for that alpha test and will be different. They also stated, during that same alpha phase, that a lot of what was there was place holders.

Some references in alpha code does not equate to existing, and its quite clear from Matros' statements that it was implemented BECAUSE people whined. If that's not proof then clearly there is no hope of having a rational discussion with you.

Aha, it is actually quite implicit from his statements that they are based on feedback, otherwise why would he even bother to reference it. And no such things were stated, it was only after people kicked up a stink that they said they would tweak the 3D spotting and would consider implementing a CommRose. Good job at revisionism though....

Doesn't really matter what the....wait for it....ORIGIN of the inclusion of commo-rose is; it's there now so hooray for enemy boats spotted.

watch them disable that on maps without boats, thus defeating the real reason we want the rose in the first place.

Revisionist? LOL. From day one of that alpha they stated that the 3D spotting was not the finished version and was still being tweaked. From day one. People whining had nothing to do with them changing it, it was never even the finished version to begin with!

By your logic, the missing arms issue in the alpha will only be corrected because people were complaining about seeing soldiers with no arms, and since DICE never specifically said that there will be missing arms in the alpha, they had no intention to change it.

Unless it has permadeath its just a game.
and games I play for fun.
Fun for me is is the upcoming BF3.:D

lol

would be funny if someone set up a server with a script so that as soon as someone dies it bans them from the server.

perma death server! with stat tracking.

It has been confirmed by zh1nt0 that there will NOT be an in-game server browser on the PC version. The only server browser is the one built into Battlelog a.k.a. the shittiest server browser I've ever used in my entire life. So now every time you wanna switch servers you have to alt-tab out of the game or close the game and launch again into a different server. That was actually Demize99's suggestion. To close the game just to switch to a new server. And this guy is a senior designer.

So the console version gets an in-game server browser but the PC version doesn't. LOL. What a fucking joke.

...yeah, so? It's a DX11 title, so it alt-tabs instantly. Getting the game up and running from Battlelog took no longer than 10 seconds, probably faster than BC2. Do you really need to have the game running while you're picking a server?

PS: Battlelog is the best server browser I've ever used in my entire life.

Source please?

I did a google search for "battlefield 3 server browser" "battlefield 3 PC server browser" "zh1nt0 server browser" and came up with not a single shred of evidence that suggests BF3 PC won't have a server browser.

Or is this one of those "i heard from someone that read somewhere about someone who talked to a guy at gamestop who tweeted zh1nt0"

I've never used battlelog, but given that DICE in-game browsers are probebly the worst int he business anyway, if true it may be a good thing.

He said it with his own mouth during the live Q&A earlier today.

They confirmed yesterday Battlelog is the only way to join a server.

But I'm fine with it because Battlelog is pretty slick. Makes joining games with friends a whole lot easier, even has voice comms.

No it's not.

You're telling me the server browser with no filter options is the best server browser you've ever used? What about when you selected a server that was far down the server list... You had to scroll all the way back up to the top of the page just to click "Join Server."

What a piece of absolute trash.

What? It did have filter options. And you just double clicked a server to join.

Sounds like you were too busy being angry to actually learn how to use it.

Not to mention DICE was specific that it will change and improve as it was the Alpha version.

There were no filter options. All you could do was sort by ping, players, etc.

And you don't think double clicking wasn't the first thing I tried to join a server? All that happened when I did that was that it highlighted the words for the server name. I always had to scroll up to the top of the page to join a server. Was frustrating as hell.

There is a server browser...but not ingame. Which sounds pretty dumb. Oh well, it'll still be a fun game, but bad design decision.

Only screenshot I could find of battlelog in multi: http://imageshack.us/f/192/battlelog.jpg/

Check out the line below "Browse" where it says... Filter.

You could filter by region, game mode, whether it was full or empty, by map, etc.

I actually used it to and it worked well.

edit: VVVV Thanks

Ok well I guess I just overlooked it, and I have no problem eating crow.

But I still couldn't double click join, and found it very frustrating to keep having to close the game to get into a new server.

No way is that correct. no fucking way mate

Looks like people are making an assumption, think it's not a possibility of being in the game, then say it's not in the game.

Can anyone wait until the Beta before spewing nonsense? It's only three weeks away.

Was that an assumption? I don't recall seeing an official date for the beta release other than "sometime in September". :D
