Battlefield 3 General Discussion Thread

I really liked battlelog as well. And I have no problem with Origin. It's just a Steam clone from a different company. Competition will only be good for us in the long run.

It's already been cracked/pirated. The single player experience is free to anyone willing to put the work into it currently.

Hacked servers are already starting to crop up in different circles.

Seriously, nothing is "unpirateable".

Unless you're part of some super secret pirate group who has the only working crack/workaround, then that is BS. A clonedvd has been released, and not a single person has got it running. There's no crack, and Origin is required to play. There's 100's of comments on the various usenet/torrent sites stating that. There's the occasional "I got it working" spam as per the norm, but I'm more likely to believe 100's of people crying about the lack of a crack.

It's funny, as I've never seen so many "Just wait for the release and buy it. It's worth it" comments on the pirate scene, lol.

Wow that is really something to hear, almost as much as the supposed billion dollar hardware contribution from the game, lol.

I account for $2500 of that, and a buddy of mine just spent $1700 a couple weeks ago just for BF3 :D

I converted from a Mac Pro G5, to my sig PC mainly to play this game. Granted im using it for a lot of other stuff, but thats at least $2500 ive spent on this PC, and the reason i finally committed to it was BF3! A billion dollars in upgrades seems like a lot, but considering the amount of people that build new computers, upgraded graphics cards, cpu's/ mobos, just to handle BF3's sheer awesomeness. Especially worldwide, not just US.

Is it just me or have video card prices gone up since the beta? I sware I was seeing 570's around 280-290 before the beta, and now they're all 320+ on NE.

A lot of people haven't upgraded in a long time either.
and with new games as star wars the mmog online, BF3, diablo 3, a lot of people buy things in advance instead of first play and then buy.
My hobby is computer so I get the best for me price/performance, so I just look for new cards from amd, but due to them being late, I got to wait for upgrade.

People upgrade due to them wanna play a game they enjoy.
I know a lot of kids don't have the latest in hardware so for many of them, makes a lot of sense to get a upgrade ;)

in regards to BF3, hopefully they fixed a ton of the beta issues, but will find out soon.

I read this game has driven a billion dollars in hardware upgrades?

Crysis 2 failed to deliver and that really hurt Nvidia and AMD, no one had a reason to upgrade.
BF3 is to the rescue and I'm sure they are enjoying strong hardware sells now.

Innovative games drives the PC market like no other.
Lack of innovation, rinse and repeat, hurts the PC market.

What I would like to see is the ability to create a URL link to servers.

2-3 favorite servers as URL links on my desktop. click, load, play.

I'm pretty sure you can, I know people were making links to Caspian Border servers the weekend before beta ended. Granted this was all done within Battlelog on the forums.

This is exactly right. Most everyone who actually played the beta came to the same conclusion. Battlelog is fine; it's better than fine actually, it works very well.

Everyone? You obviously missed the threads on the battlelog beta forums amounting to over 5000 posts of people mostly hating on battlelog and asking for an in-game menu.

battlelog seems fine for me.
works better than any dice ingame browser the last 11 years.

Interesting to see how much the mood has changed in this thread since beta launch. It went from "THIS GAME SUCKS" to "I welcome battlelog". People will always be hypocrites.

Nice blanket statement. Did you even bother to check if the same user posted two differing opinions before you posted that?

Multiple people with their own opinions doesn't make them hypocrites.

battlelog sucked befor the beta, it still sucks after.

Origin could of took care of all the stats, servers, friends, game launching, and other bullshit that battlelog does, just like Steam does. And we wouldn't have to go through extra steps for the sake of making things more difficult.

Just a realistic look at how the industry treats it's bread and butter. Nothing more. Nothing less.
BF3 has already been a massive disappointment in the group I play with, we have all cancelled pre-orders and are waiting for 4-6 months before making another choice to buy. So far, nothing new is cropping up and we expect you all to be having fun with the exact same issues that were there in alpha/beta.

Meh, I enjoyed the game...bugs and all....I'm sure they will be worked out after the release with a few patches here and there..that's how most games work....

I'm looking forward to the release so I can play again.....

Enough about the server browser! There are jets! And when they explode they go spark spark kaboooom!

So if I pre order the limited edition I get the back to karkland DLC included right? Or rather, free when it comes out?

so you've been able to log into battlelog AFTER the beta, i don't think so.
extra steps? click on browser, log in with credentials, find a server and play the game. GOD, WHERE DID ALL MY TIME GO!

yep that's how it works :). i'm really looking forward to Karkand...i spent so many infuriating hours on that map in BF2 :D

Nice, yea I've spent hours on that map. Whats the consensus here? Are people pre ordering through Origin or retail?

Be gone with you, troll. You've been dumping misinformation and just garbage in general on this thread for like 2-3 pages now.

First off, BF3 has not been cracked. You most likely will not see it cracked before the 25th, and I don't think anyone will care at that point because only Brazilians would pirate a game of this quality.

Second, you whine and complain like a 10 month old baby about Battlelog - but you have yet to present a compelling argument as to why in-game server browsers are better. The only thing you keep saying is a bunch of bros are going to circle jerk to stats. You seem insecure when it comes to stats, are you ashamed of yours and afraid someone might see?

Third, and finally - nobody gives a shit if you and your friends cancelled your pre-orders. Do us all a favor and don't buy it in 4-6 months either. Sounds like you guys have a real intimate relationship, making a pact to not buy a game. Congratulations, you made a choice based on unfinished software that was intended to serve as a stress test, not a showcase. Gameplay / visual bugs? Sure, but overall for supporting 8+ million people for the first time ever, the stress test was a MASSIVE success.

You know how I know you're just trolling? Because everyone that was just like you, little miss negative nancy about the beta, every one of them that went to the GeForce LAN changed their tune about the game after playing with that build. You don't have to look far at all to find reports, blogs, video logs, etc all saying the same thing. All of the obnoxious bugs with beta are gone.

As another user said, if it's really just that bad and you hate it that much - GTFO

Welcome to the thread. :)

First - It's been cracked since 3 days ago, get over it. It's not a public release because you need to set up a server, be it VM or physical and run the executable through there. Really it hasn't even been cracked, just bypassed. Get over it scrub.

Second - I've presented my argument and you see them as pointless, THAT is a matter of opinion. I'm not whining about it, I'm stating my opinion. As soon as you console retarded kids get that through your head the forums would be a better place. You like it, great, I see it as a waste of resources. Stat tracking is still there and will always, battlelog or not, so it is a non-issue. I don't play for stats, some do, good for them. Some are obsessive about it to the point of epeen strokage. Comprehension is low for you.

Third - If you don't give a shit, then why are you commenting on it? Please explain that logic to me. If you don't like something I say, skip over it. Don't be such a fucking child and feel the need to vehemently defend something you have no involvement with what-so-ever. Were allowed to have opinions here.

Battlelog is a waste of resources, and I have seen no valid argument for it's inclusion other than "the devs jerk off over it". That's it. So just as you have seen no argument against it, neither have I seen an argument FOR it.

Get over yourself, and if you don't like my posts GTFO. Seriously, you need to learn to control yourself.

Were I to be trolling I would just be posting willy nilly trying to rile you up. I'm not, I've been expressing my opinion on my experiences with Battlelog and looking for more reasoning as to why everyone is jerking off over it. It's hilarious.

The issue I've had were not with the general gameplay, but more with the direction the dev's have taken with the game. It doesn't feel good, and we are not the only people to come to this conclusion.

Will it sell well, yup. Will it be a success, sure, why not. It's definitely not a ground-breaking game at all. Just more of the same and the general feel of the game was better back with 1942 and BF2. This is because they are now under EA, and EA requires certain things of them. Not to mention fucking PR like Zhinto, fucking hell that guy can DIAF.

Anyways, unless you actually want to discuss the merits and benefits of Battlelog, over being able to actually launch a single player game without touching it and many other lacking options(that still are not there, proving the devs are fucking retarded still), get back to me without the subtle gay innuendo that "bros" like you love to use.

^^This is how to post if you want to get some time off from the forums. Name calling / trolling will not be permitted, if you can't post like an adult, you won't be treated like one. -Oldie

I just remembered that battlelog asked me to type username+password every time. That'll screw with my URL shortcuts method...

We'll see I guess.

Right now I think the best deal in the digital download from Amazon.

Nice! The price looks good, but I have a couple of questions. I see on Origin you get the Physical Warfare pack included, but not on Amazon? not a huge deal if those weapons are unlocked during MP progression.

Also, I have never bought a PC downloadable game from Amazon before? how does it work exactly? I actually am quite the Amazon customer, have used prime in the past but am not familiar with their PC downloads, the DRM, download/install limits or re-installing/downloading at a later date. how does all of that work?

When I tested beta, I only had to put my credentials in once.. never asked me again. Google Chrome.
