Is it me, or is that a crossbow m16? It looks like the barrel is still present, and the bow part is attached to the upper rail.

Now what would be cool would be to use the new character models in the other maps. Make it part of your load-out just like camo.

crossbow? that might be fun for a bit, but for a shooter that likes to play the "realism" card it seems a bit retarded.

The idea of a crossbow is great if you are hunting old school, or are in the middle of a zombie apocalypse and want "infinite" ammo and need to remain stealthy.

the Battlefield franchise seems to be selling out more and more -- sad that it's falling to the level of CoD

Only a matter of time before killstreaks turn up. MOH already has them, and EA is hellbent on homogenising its entire action game branch, so it's coming.

"You wanted Commander? Well, now EVERYONE can be a Commander with the new Battlefield killstreak system!" Hurr.

Played armored kill yesterday. Tank superiority is a joke? Huge camp fest where both teams snipes with tanks each other. Some times crazy people rush into flag, capture it and die.

Is it the whole idea of the mode?
- Snipe with tanks
- Rush, capture , die the single flag

BF3=Epic fail.
No idea how they got it so wrong from BF1942 and bf2.

I cannot say it is fail but I enjoyed BF2142 more then BF3. I guess dice is testing the grounds with those new modes to see what will become popular.

I hope they will bring proper BF2143 soon :)

It is not the map's flow, nor Dice's fault. It is always the players fault. Matter of fact what make BF3 worse in so many ways is not the game itself, really. It is the community of players. There is too much ignorance, asinine playing, no tactical understanding of the maps and game play, et al.

Seriously, I am not joking. The game play in BF series is always about teamwork, and when it happens it is spot on. The problem is most do not want to do it, and are not capable of it. The stupidity I have observe in 2142, BC2, and BF3 over the hours and years of playing make me not invest much faith in humanity.

I have watched so many times squad members spawning on me and running off not sticking together and using synergy (then dying and repeat). People do not drop their assets to heal, supply, and cover flanks. Eng's do not know how to attack vehicles and just act like point martyrs while never ever repairing vehicles if they have the ability. Players never using maps assets, such as tanks, and jets properly (of course they do make it difficult to learn the jet, which is Dice's fault). I can go on......but I shall not.

It is not so much Dice's fault, maps, etc. It's the shitty player's fault.

Agreed. But it is partially Dice problem - no ingame voice chat ruine team play for me personally. I often was joining random squads in BF2142 and we did teamworked using ingame voice chat. Not so in BF3.

Hmm. So what else are you supposed to do on Tank Superiority map? Is there a tactic I missed? I haven't played Armored Kill since it launched because I thought it was pretty bad. Tank Superiority was the pinnacle of boring for me as I just didn't see the point in it. Is there a good video detailing what you're supposed to do on that map?

And 99% of the stuff you're complaining about is directly related to a lack of voice chat. Typing out instructions is dumb and gets you killed. Downloading every server's Mumble, TS, Ventrilo, etc isn't going to happen as you can get DDOS'd from joining them. Playing a game that requires tactics with 0 communications isn't going to turn out well.

Because USMC F/A-18Es, Russian AC-130s, magical revives after being blown up and sniper rifles with the ballistics of a .22LR are totally realistic. :p

Though I do agree, I'd rather have some more firearms, anti tank weapons, or vehicles (motors cycles don't count).

Do you guys have any suggestions on how to get the destroy 10 enemy equipment with EOD assignment? I am having a hard time with it. Or did you just suffer through it?

I have to agree with this. Even in Counter-Strike, a game with bare bones tactics and strategy, the vast majority of players couldn't figure out basic teamwork. If you have just a group of 4 friends playing BF3 as a squad working together, you'll dominate most maps, which is sad in a 32v32 game.

took me weeks to get 3-4 out of 10, then I went on Oman and got up on the top of the towers with the useless snipers.... got the other 6 in no time. Kill the sniper, deploy eod bot, take out his tugs and spawn beacon, wait for the moron(s) to return, repeat.

I just sat at C on Oman and had it deployed and when flag started to go down I would switch to the EOD and take down the tank or anything else after I hit it with an RPG.

I killed tanks with it and it did not count toward the assignment.

Happy Birthday BF3! 436 hours of gameplay accumulated over the first year-not too bad. I still haven't touched the SP Campaign, heh :D I hope DICE keeps it relevant for at least another year-I'm not expecting BF2 longevity, but it would be nice to have continued support for the foreseeable future.

6 Months. BF4 will release within or slightly after the next year.

It would be nice if there was voice exactly like 2142. However, it is not necessary to be able to speak to know what to do. Matter of fact my most favorite moments in 2142 is when the comm was silent, and everyone was in a Zen mode.

Afterwards, it was glorious what was achieved. It can help but communication can just as equally cause problems, and it not always necessary; due to the fact that you can monitor and take action accordingly (q.v. mushin no shin)

Hmm. So what else are you supposed to do on Tank Superiority map? Is there a tactic I missed?

To put it succinctly: You adapt. You overcome. You improvise. Proper squads in fox holes and around the covered areas on the map. A proper squad would be support, eng (one with SMAW/RPG and one with Jav), and assault with also complimentary synergy from another squad's SOFLAM placement is what those maps are about.

And 99% of the stuff you're complaining about is directly related to a lack of voice chat. Typing out instructions is dumb and gets you killed.

No, 100% of what I am complaining about is ignorance, asinine actions that are punitive, no want to synergize with team, no care for other players, I can go on and on. You do not have to communicate to be effective in the game-seriously.

A game that requires tactics, requires a player that can execute tactics; not one that can talk tactics. I have achieved high character KDR in 2142, BC2, and BF3 with very little communication to other players. However, technically speaking, the map and another player's action(s) are a form of communicative output and body language that I understand. For example, I can tell if a player goes down that someone used a suppressor, and adjust my pos on the map to compensate, and take down that enemy or enemies without a single word from someone. A suppressor affects that player, not the ones that were killed.

This is one of the exact actions that I am talking about. So many asinine players run in front of another player, especially, while engaged with a target. And to note-they were communicating. It was the player's asinine action that caused a punitive loss. On both sides actually!!!! The tard driving the jeep around and the one kill that he inflicted. Luckily, that players actions did not make them lose two tickets.

Sometimes, I want to find these assholes that do this and take them to the range. Start shooting and then say: RUN IN FRONT OF ME NOW!

Pretty much this. A competent 4 man squad is a terrifying thing to behold. I've been part of lots of squads that adapt to the squad leaders play style, follow commands, and generally wreck everything even without comms. Get two or three of these on a team and it makes up for the incompetent people. Most of the time at least.

Good tip. I'll hit the tanks first with the RPG. This way I can take them out before I get discovered. That's what is happening with me that before they get destroyed they roll out and destroy my EOD.
