Battlefield 3 General Discussion Thread

Oh and the last server it says I played on, I haven't played on. So is this some "You are hacked" bullshit?

Same here dude. There's very little teamwork going on that I've noticed so far, so I just run around racking up points from healing/revives.

I gotta be honest, I suck at running/gunning. So I try to actually help by keeping people alive. Occasionally I'll find a good spot and saw some people in two. Mostly though, revive revive revive toss health explode.
:p

also you can attach C4 to it and blow it up next to enemies without damaging the MAV since the FF is off.

I saw that a lot last night for the first time. Couldn't figure out why the UAVs kept exploding over people's heads. Does that work for the EOD robots also?

Probably wouldn't be as successful since the EOD bots are so hard to drive.

That's quite a bit imo. I'm only at lvl 14 or something and feel like I've been playing forever.

I've only played a total of like 3.5 hours and I'm already almost at level 9. I'd say the ranking/time ratio is pretty much dead-on.

I find it more fun to run people over with the MAV. Takes more skill and ends up being a lot more amusing :)

That's the problem with public servers (and the rush game type). Hopefully when the retail comes out there will be clan servers with people who actually try to play as a team. Right now it is just glorified deathmatch.

What they need to do is make using the support items worth more. You get like 50 points for a revive and 10 points per "heal" (whatever amount that is), whereas for arming the MCOM you get like 100. Even if you get the "medical efficiency" medal (many revives/heals in one round), it's only like 200 points. You just get people rushing the MCOM constantly and pushing each other/getting shot, because they want the arming points. I know that's the purpose of the game, but if you just run up like an idiot and get killed you're not doing any good for your team.

They need to make it more worthwhile to use teamplay. Maybe even like you get more points for kills if you are near friendly players or something. I do like how you get a lot of points for kill assists, because it sucked in other games when you did 90% damage and had some asshat get the "final shot" and get all the experience. Also, suppression points are nice.

It's not awful as-is, because right now I don't get an amazing K/D ratio but I get a lot of points for helping. But it could be better.

It may only be 200 points for the medical efficiency medal, but to get it you probably got 1000+ points during the match, if not more. Each revive is 100 points and 10 points per heal, 20 per squadmate heal, is quite a lot.

And I wish I was in games where teammates were constantly charging MCOMs..more than half the time they're never planted. :( And you get additional points for killing/assisting kills around a planted MCOM. Suppression gets you a good amount of points as well. I'm not sure what other activities should be rewarded with points...even some that are good sometimes, aren't good all the time. Kills near a friendly for example - usually it's good, but if you FINALLY creep up behind the enemy with your silenced UMP and then your squadmate spawns on you and starts spraying his MG, getting you both killed, that shouldn't be rewarded. ;)

if it's anything like the BC2 beta, the points we're getting now are double what will be awarded in the retail game (i.e. kills will give 50 points instead of 100, etc.)

Just whored recon until I unlocked the SKS. Not even a very good gun but it's so much more fun using the battle rifles/DMRs than the carbines or assault rifles. I can't stand the full-auto weapon behaviour.

The SKS is kind of crap but I still love not having to spray wantonly around people to hit them.

Came across a guy who has the G36C. It seems like the UMP with a larger magazine - he was wrecking everyone's business with ease at all ranges.

you can switch fire modes on the assault rifles.

I dont necessarily agree with him. Specifically, he makes mention on what happened between alpha and beta. DICE made the mistake of putting out code that was "behind" and is just an old build altogether.

I do agree with him on delivering a beta meant to appease those interested in Call of Duty and then making the "Battlefield" portion of it closed off to passworded servers.

Mixed emotions, and coming off RAGE - I may just cancel or hold my preorder until a few days after before picking it up and opening it on the first day. I don't like the ability to lose 60$ twice in one month. ;(

This guy damn sure had a bot. Close quarters with a single shot rifle. Headshot after headshot, people moving, sitting still, close, far, medium, prone in a bush.

ugh.

Around 40 kills he stopped completely assraping everyone and took some deaths.

^ I agree to the above ive seen some bullshit like that too, you see him first empty half a clip into that guy he turns and one shots you like wtf!?!

I fucking hate cheaters.....I think when someone cheats it should display their home address/phone number to everyone that got killed by them while they were cheating.

yeah i ran into a blatant aimbotter last night. lots of "lol you guys just go to xxxxxxxxxxx.net for the hack" from him. it's annoying. one thing i learned long ago is to not go hunting around the net to see what kind of hacks these guys are using. they range from extremely blatant to extremely subtle and difficult to detect...and it makes you start to question everyone who kills you.

I get called hack a lot because I will have a 3-1 kd in some rounds when all is going well. One round I kicked out a 36-4 mainly because the people I were playing were either too stupid to realize I had pushed up to defend and played the angles, or I would sneak around to kill them from behind. If you die, it is mostly because either you or your team screwed up some where along the way... going into a hot zone, or the loss of situational awareness. In my case I like to play the MCON stations very aggressively and could care less about a shitty k/d. I have started to see a few hackers, but it hasn't been bad yet. Mostly people that are really good getting the rap as a hacker, but have no intentions of cheating. BF is not just a shooter, but a rts so to speak. The ones that can plan, communicate, and execute are the ones that will control the game.

They need to remove the flashlights. Being blinded by opponents and teammates is infuriating.

I cant believe how stupid people can be - remove dolphin diving and bunnyhopping and replace them with another poor decision.

To me the blatant type of hacking doesn't bother me. It is more disruptive to game play than cheating to me. Once the game is retail any decently administrated server can easily deal with it and there will be an ample amount of servers to switch to.

Subtle cheating is a bigger issue in terms of the integrity of the game in my opinion. Most people cheat in a way as to convey an advantage without being obvious about it. For instance if you use something that gives for example ESP, you can use it for huge advantage in a way that is basically impossible to conclusively detect even if someone spectated in first person.

A guy killing everyone with almost perfect accuracy from across the map, whatever. An admin will deal with it or you can switch servers. That guy who seems to always been in perfect position as he rounds corners or if you round a corner on him, no way to tell for certain.

i'm sure we've all been accused of hacking. i'm a mediocre player at best and i've been accused twice so far during this beta. some people just can't cope with being killed, but i'd bet most of us on [H] can recognize a legitimate hack.

being blinded by teammates is the most frustrating. i've had teammates just sit there and focus their flashlight (the hand of god directing all the energy of the sun) on me in the tunnels. they're just oblivious...or dipshit griefers.

I can usually kill a single person with a flashlight, it isn't too bad most of the time. What will usually get me is if he has a teammate behind him that I wasn't aware of, that then kills me. I see a lot of people using the flashlight, but to me the brief advantage it gives you in an encounter is vastly outweighed by running around everywhere with a big ass flashlight giving away your position.

I wonder if Punkbuster being off is just because it wasn't ready, or if they are honeypotting the beta to see what kind of cheats are developed. Probably the former, but I'd like to think the latter.

Even worse is when you are in a good position and then a teammate spawns in on you with the giant "kill me over here" flashlight giving away your position.

http://imgur.com/a/AOOWB - last weekends games were fun, I can't wait to get home and post up even better scores now that I'll have even more fps!

I love this game!

Have not ran into any hackers in game yet, my buddy Spazz get's called out alot, but he just has no life playing the game 36hrs so far and is rank 50, it's crazy, pulling 5/1kdrs all the time.

Here's another obvious one. Different guy than before.

Agreed 100%! They need to turn FFF (friendly fire flashlight) off.

I'd be content with them turning Friendly Fire (on). :D

Boom! oh crap, friendly. rez... flashlight.... BOOM, woops. Sorry I shoot flashlights. rez....glowing orb... BOOM.

there are some servers that have FF on. did a lot of team killing because of that stupid light lol.
