Battlefield 2 ?

I MAY buy it, but I may not. It's not that I don't like the BF series I just hate EA with the biggest passion in the world. And to AceTKK I am not giving EA any credit. I just don't want to support them. I am getting pissed off just thinking of all of the awesome games that they ruined. And let us not forget about the whole deal with the NFL that they pulled this year.

while I don't like lack of competition also....if EA hadn't bought the rights...someone else would have. They just had the money to do it.

The only thing I worry about is the fact that Trauma may do all it can to NIX third party mods. Honestly I would have minded paying for a quality mod like DC but I hope Trauma doesnt kill the creativity and ambition of the gamer mods.

BF2 is sure to me awesome just like BF42 was when it came out. But lets hope the paid expansions from the D|CE/Trauma team are better then those that came out for 1942(road to rome, ect).

Count me as another who build my computer almost specifically to play BF1942.. ;)

eagerly waiting BF2.

ive dusted off both BF42 and BFV and seems like theres no servers around, <50 for BFV.
BF42 says wrong version even though ive patched it up...

odd

The head executive dood for BF2 said that it would come out in late june (full game) and the demo would come out about 2 weeks before the game. So it will be the 1st week or 2nd week of June :)

I for one can WAIT for this game! I'm tired of CS, i love bf42 but its getting wisker's on it. The movies and everything i have seen points to great things with this game :)

w00h000

Also quake wars and q4 look uber cool!

:D

Considering they're releasing modding tools to the public and just had a party where ea invited bf1942/bf2 modders from all around the world to play bf2 and learn how to use bf2's modding tools I highly doubt they'll have a problem with mods...

Oh and bf2 is confirmed to ship in the usa on june 21st, most likely in stores on the 22nd. They never gave a date for the demo except "mid june" recentally.

You need server-patch 1.61b.

There are still hundreds (If not thousands) of servers up for BF1942 and Desert Combat.

Have to wait and see. The physics look pretty high on this game since there are going to be 64 players being blown apart. It is most likely going to be more cpu intensive than gpu like the the 1942 and vietnam.

Game of the Year! (hopefully)

I think TES4: oblivion might get that.

While BF2 looks great fun, it doesn't look like anything really new/revolutionary that hasn't been done.

I was hoping mainly that BF2 would actually start to model vehicle damage based on specific parts, IMO that would enhance it a lot instead of simply goin "kaboom."

Imagine blowing out tires, specifically taking out tank tracks, etc without having to specifically just go "boom" to it all. It add's another layer to the strategy in the game and depth.

Imagine you and a friend working together to take out a vehicle, lay some mines to take the track and your friend blows the door, then you pick off people as they come out, etc.

That would require a pretty powerful computer....and how would they do that with 50+ vehicles going around a map at one time?!

i guess Battlefield 2 and HL2 are the best games this year next year is STALKER :)

STALKER is ganna beat HL2 for sure have you played Follout that was a GREAT game well stalker is some thing simular but 3D. It's ganna be one hell of a game been waiting for 3 years already may be more don't remember

A powerful computer???

It's been done many times, on much much older games...

What do you mean how would they do it? they'd do it like...any other game has done it.

In '42 and VN they do show a certain level of damage detail (smoke, fire, etc). However, to show a lot of detail in BF2 (busted track, blown engine, flat tire, bent gun turrent, etc) they would have to sacrifice the max number of players on any server as a trade off.

I think BF2 is going to be great. BF1942 is the main reason i started to get into computer upgrading for gaming too.

The only thing that im curious to see how it works out is how well the commander thing works. I remember playing BF1942 and the people who played that were wild. team work rarely occured and the "REQUESTING A PICKUP!" type stuff hardly got a response from the team. People were out for themselves and very unorganized. I dont see how they will listen to the commander. They tried this in that Savage(?) game and it didnt work quite so well - but then they implemented it in a wierd way. Maybe the BF community will be more team oriented with the honor type thing i heard they were putting in.

Either way i think this games gonna be great. A more team oriented gameplay would be more fun. but i still love the old wild free-for-all the old BF used to be. i guess ill just have to join a clan again.

I'm gonna have to try out the demo. there is no way that i'll be able to play this with any eye candy turned on. Should be fun though.

you will have nothing but problems with the multiplayer.........bf1942 multiplayer still is not very good.....this will be worse......even with a great system - driving for 5 minutes only to get into a major lag fight with someone else to die, to respawn, to drive for 5 more minutes...oh the fun......

The maps are scaled based on the amount of players that are on the server. So your "driving for 5 minutes only to get into a major lag fight with someone else to die, to respawn, to drive for 5 more minutes" shouldn't really happen.

As far as lag goes. Of course there is & always will be crap servers run by those who haven't a clue what there upload is & just got into PC gaming in recent past. A few are in this very thread. Untill games use some sort of smart feature that detects a users upload & download & limits the game to those specs we will always have to deal with this. But only a moron would be stupid enough to stay on a obvious lagged server & continue to visit it while complaining all the while. On the bright side. There will & always has been great servers as well. Its just a matter of trial & error.

However you sound as though you have been disappointed in the past with the BF games. Lord knows I have. I find the engines to be of poor coding, though some will argue that but I suspect they were not around till after the 1st year of BF1942. & BF:V is a total pile of crap. I think this game they may actually get it right. I'll for sure be buying it. I just hope its half as good as all the hype.

Great this is what I wanted to hear!

BTW, I like the sound of the Commander Mode. If you ever played on a well commanded team,(Usually a clan) then you can see how this add to the depth of the game. While the continual charge with guns blazing is fun there is more to the game if people are willing to follow orders. I have seen plenty of organization in DC and I expect the community will bring it to this game.

Going to pre-order my copy from newegg next week since I need some stuff from them anyways. Anyone see the new video on Fileshack. Man that video rocked, and only wants me to play it more.

what's a video link and if i preorder it will it come same day it's released ?

is bf2 all online? i thought i read somewhere that it had both single and multi player, but one of my friends told me that it was only online.

It will have both on and offline play.

If I remember reading, the demo will have both as well.

if the single player is anything like BF1942's, it's pretty much MP mode but with bots running around.

MP is a lot more fun.

Cool video
i'm wondering who are the MEC guys there ? what country are they
look at the screen shot wow http://www.totalbf2.com/images.php?img=features/screenshots/big/110.jpg

Sorry if this has been posted but, http://files.filefront.com/bf2_op_high/;3860920;;/fileinfo.html this vid is pretty awesome. I liked it better than the loop one.

I'm just hoping it'll run on my sys. (yes I know it is slow). The list of supported vid cards doesnt say Mobile Radeons but I'm pretty sure it should be ok.

ok i'll be thinking that MEC is Russia couse they got all the Russian technology
