Just reinstalled battlefield 2, Windows 7 64 (was working fine until hdd crashed) started with dvd, then installed special forces expansion, which installed patch 1.1 on its own, after that I installed 1.5.. everything installed fine. I go to launch the game and the screen goes black likes its going to launch then just comes back to desktop. Ideas?

Same thing happened to me. I just ran the 1.41 patch after the 1.5 patch and then the game worked, and it stayed at the 1.5 patch too.
I guess you can just run the 1.5 patch again and see if that helps, since the 1.41 patch is 500 megs. if it doesn't work, go grab the 1.41 patch.

You are supposed to skip all the patches except 1.1 if you own SF since it installs it automatically.
The 1.5 2GB patch is supposed to be a full patch and worked on 2 other machines, except mine.
Yeah, thats what I downloaded, was the 2gb 1.5 patch that said it will patch any version of bf.. guess not though.
No it's not, the 1.5 states nowhere that it's a full patch, meaning that it's a incremental patch and not a full patch, so you have to install 1.41 first (it's the last full patch that was released).
