I am going to suggest that this will whet the VR appetites of many folks that are a fan of the Batman. Playing Batman in 3rd person and getting to BE the Batman in VR will certainly be something that appeals to many. The only real question at this point is, "Will Batman: Arkham VR suck, or will it be the experience in VR that we all hope it will be?" Check out the video.

Batman: Arkham VR is officially coming to HTC VIVE™ and Oculus Rift beginning April 25.
 
It's interesting to note that Rocksteady is behind it again.

I was under the impression that Arkham Knight was supposed to be Rocksteady's last game in the franchise.

Let's hope that this VR game doesn't suffer the same kinds of problems as Arkham Knight did.
 
I don't know if I will buy it. I wanted to at one point but it was PSVR exclusive so I watched someone play it since I didn't have a PSVR and honestly it was so short that I couldn't believe it was $20.
 
If this was a full fledged game on PSVR it would have been AAA. The snippet you get is excellent and lends itself perfectly to what VR can be in a game. Its still the one I show off to impress people the most. I was in awe at it.

Agreed. I'd love to see Rocksteady flesh this out into a full game.
 
Checked a couple of PSVR reviews and it got pretty decent scores. For $10 to $20 it's a no brainer for me.

Yup, I was thinking the same thing. Saw it played on my brother-in-law's PS4. So much of it felt very gimmicky to me on the PS4, but some of that could be the short-comings of VR itself. Using the grapple as a selector was kind of odd, but it worked, overall, within the game.
 
It'll be interesting to see what becomes of VR games in a few years.

Right now most have the teleport mechanic which serves two purposes, keep the player confined to their playing area (motion box) and also help keep graphical quality up (by confining a player to a set box, you can prerender/fake a lot of GPU intensive stuff since it can only be seen from a predetermined viewing angle). I wouldn't mind seeing someone take a shot at an FPS (like H3vr weapon wise) but have player stance/lean/weapons handled by the players motion and the actual movement from place to place done with a joystick. Kinda like a hybrid. I think it'll be a few years for it though, as graphically they need to prerender a lot to keep the FPS high.
 
Let's just say "Hopefully it's not a VR game just because VR is popular," and that I'd hope they put some real worthwhile value into the experience. Otherwise f*** off...

I would check all of your expectations. I bought this for PSVR and I beat it in one standing. It was VERY short. $20 for me was a stretch. I wouldn't have paid more than $10 for it if I could, but since it likely never would have gone that low in price, and I was desperate for VR content I took the plunge. Can't say I regret it, but after I played it once that was enough.

It definitely shows off the potentials of VR and is a fantastic experience, but like any movie it's there one minute and gone the next. If I had to guess i'd say it lasted maybe 20 minutes...

Ironically, one of the coolest moments of the "game" was looking at yourself in the mirror as Batman. Tilting your head, bringing your hands up to your head. Was quite cool. The Joker part scared the shit out of me, but jump scares always do that.
 
Haven't tried it myself, but the PS version was supposed to be pretty good according to a few friends of mine. One reported some major vertigo - guess there is a scene in which you are perched on top of a gargoyle looking down at the city. I would not like this type of scene.

I tried the New York air balloon demo at bestbuy, it was impossible for me to walk over the edge. VR is awesome, I'm still putting one together for work, as a demo for people to play on breaks.

Picked this up and at the morgue. Will play the rest probably Friday. I think it really slick. Definitely not a deep game but graphically beautiful, basically a Telltale VR game.

Never kills it for me in games. Never even crosses my mind. I guess generally because I am not look at my forearms while shit is trying to kill me.
