Basiccolor calibration error: Stuck on "calculating profile, please wait..."

After I calibrate, BasICColor gets stuck on "calculating profile, please wait..."

Any ideas?

Oh, this started happening after I upgrade to a 4870x2.
 
I got this as well.

I just ignored the message and just did the review.

Anybody know why it gets stuck on calculating profile for ages ? I mean after doing the rgb and brightness, the next step is for the monitor to create a profile after running the test, but instead it just says calculating profile .....

Anyway i went to review to check the results and save the icc profile. I then checked my vista color management to confirm it was using the icc profile.

I am using a Dell 2405FPW lcd monitor, Vista ultimate 64 bit, Nvidia Geforce 8800 gts and a X-rite Eye One Display 2 calibrator.








I just bought the basICColor software.

Well it shows more information. It's more complex to use too :rolleyes:

Hopefully that just means it will offer better results.

I will post some screenshots shortly.


The results


I reset to factory settings which were all 50 before i ran the calibration process. I followed the software instructions and set the following below to meet the target.

red 18

green 23

blue 50

brightness 22



Did i do this correctly :confused: I was using an Eye one display 2 calibrator on a Dell 2405 FPW lcd monitor.



I am also curious what this means for the eye match features

New gamut mapping included.
The new Colorful Gamut mapping from Profile Maker 5.05 is now used in Eye-One Match.

Does it mean it can do standard and wide gamut calibrations or something ? Can the colorbasic do that too :confused:
 
Any answers regarding this ?

Is this an issue with vista or the software ? And is there any fix for it can anybody help ?
 
Hey Moogle, have you tried calibrating on the 8.9 betas? Maybe 8.7 and 8.8 has problems with Basiccolor.
 
8.9 beta ? oh where can i download that ?

No i haven't tried that yet. The one i have is basICColor display 4.1.8
 
I at first thought it was because i selected ICC profile version 4, but i read vista supports this.

Anyone have any ideas ?
 
I haven't been able to get BCC to work at all on Vista 64 SP1. It crashes when it looks for my Eye One D2, so I just use it in XP and transfer my profile from XP to Vista because I dual boot.

Yes, Vista does support ICC V4 profiles, because this is what I use, but again, my calibration is done in XP.

I'll try it again tonight with both the Eye One and Spyder2 and see what happens. I am on Catalyst 8.7 with an Asus 4870 card crossfired with 4850.

I am using the basiccolor display 4.1.8

Calibrating works, but the only part that it faults at is the part where it gets stuck on calculating profile which doesn't seem to work, which in the end i have to click review, then i click change the settings and save it. I then manually check that my vista color management is using the icc.

My Eye Match on the otherhand will save the profile without having to do this sort of thing, so i wonder why is basiccolor which is supposedly better have such a fault ?
 
Maybe it's mistakenly saying that it's calculating, but it's actually trying to select the profile (which it does at the end of the process)?

I'm thinking this because if the profile is available and usable, it's likely that it has completed writing it, but it's having issues trying to finish the selection process.

When you manually save it, does it warn you that you are overwriting the profile, or is the profile never actually written?

The profile is actually never written as a color profile file, but the screen is changed. What I have to do is use Powerstrip and "capture" the current color setting manually, since Basicc doesn't.
