Where do you guys go, online or off to find games at discount prices?

I know Amazon has deals from time to time, so does Steam, and occasionally Best Buy or Gamestop will run ads with new games for less then new release price.

Anyone got any other sources they use? Besides Steam weekend deals and whatnot.

I know i'm leaving out D2D and Impulse, but I don't use em so . . .

In my experience, the brick and mortar places always have the best stuff, but nowadays these stores are either out of business or have phased out games altogether. I always used to find great stuff at KB Toys and Office Depot, but not anymore. :(

at KB Toys

holy crap I forgot about that place. Musta closed down long ago, up here.

I always check the Sunday ads.
I like when Toys 'R Us has the deals, except that the only one up here doesn't stock CRAP for the Greatest Hits games. I think they have a total of 4 Greatest Hits titles.

I also check out WalMart since they clearance stuff outta the blue and can find decently priced.

still haven't been to the Target that opened up up here not too terribly long ago.

I get most of my cheap games through digital distribution these days, and what I don't get that way I usually just get used. It's quite rare to see really good prices on games at B&M stores around here.

I keep hearing about this Big Lots, but every store I've gone to around here didn't have any video games at all.

cheapassgamer.com

Going through the forums will get you the best results but even the front page headlines will highlight most of the important stuff similar to SlickDeals.

Go Gamer will also have some pretty good deals with their 48 hour madness sales.

I use to go to Circuit City for bargain games. At the beginning of the year, they use to have a sale on most of the previous years games for $9.99 or less.

depending on where you are..

the best B&M stores for bargin bin games are

Big Lots and Half Price Books - half price books is my main stay for cheap games. Today i got the new Turok for 3$ and i also found and original boxed copy of Tie Fighter and DoomII for 5$ or less.

every now and then Target will have some great clearance deals (this is very store specific)

online i almost exclusively goto Half.com for my used PC games and watch for steam deals.

if you have a good craigslist community in your area do some craigslist searches every now and then, not as easy to find but i've got some phenomenal deals (Mass effect + COD:WoW for 7$ 6 months ago) off craigslist.

Because it's all 'by the pallet' bought or whatever. They have have 10,000 of something, they may only get 5. Each store will usually have a completely different inventory.

How about GamersGate? They have at least one game 50% discounted every day.

http://www.gamersgate.com/

I use all of the DD services and prefer GamersGate and Impulse over Steam because no shitty client is required to run the games.

Other than the bargin bin at Gamestop, amazon has been my venue of choice. I like amazon for the cheap and efficient buys. But always make sure to look at reviewer ratings before using a seller and how many sales they have made to date, amazon runs a good gig there, hope it stays that way.

Gamestop does have a rather nice bargain bin now that you mention it, I should go there, I just detest shopping at Gamestop because it's FULL of used games, they have new releases for like less than 2 weeks after the new release comes out then the rest of the copies will be used games that were traded in (console).

Seeing that shit depresses me like nothing else, I avoid Gamestop at all costs except in the most dire of situations, like L4D2 being $29.99 at Gamestop the day after thanksgiving

I go to Target....well I work there so it's easy. Anyway, it's always ymmv, but i'd say 3/4 of all my games have come from there because they always make shelf space for new games by putting a lot of fairly new games on clearance. You can find games that came out 6 months to a year ago for 75% off if they last and your timing is right. For example my most recent purchases being RE5-$12, Chronicles of Riddick-$10, World of Goo-$4.

Didn't always used to be that way, and you don't HAVE to go in, just stay outside and go through the bargin bin :D

i know, I've been alive for 27 years, fortunately

i remember EB Games

I haven't bought any games from B&M stores for a very long time. I used to go in and browse through the <$20 PC game shelves at EB Games and Gamestop at the local mall. I don't bother anymore now that those same shelves hold all their PC games (that and the allure of finding a good and cheap game in a bargain bin has faded for me over the years).

I usually just buy from Steam deals. Sometimes +++++++ has some decent stuff too.

Nothing beats getting a box in your hand though, especially the ones that demand the use of both hands. Digital delivery just doesn't do it for me.

I agree and disagree with what you're saying

just think about the manuals

the manuals used to be as thick as some bestselling novels out there

nowadays they are only a few pages long, thanks to the dumbing down of gaming in general to the lowest common denominator

so really what are you missing out on? nothing, but the best thing is binding your account to Steam so you can back it up to an external and simply copy/paste it when you feel the need from your steamapps folder

you can carry on your games to different builds that way

PLUS

lost that disc?

no worries, it's there in Steam

i like go gamer but their deal today made me just laugh

from their 48hour madness

New Super Mario Bros. for Wii
$49.90 - Save 0%
Reg Price $49.99

watch out, 9 cent savings!

ive bought my ps3 for 2 years now and so far I have never inserted a PS3 game inside yet. Bought the system solely for GT5 and FF13 Versus. I never owned a ps2 so I took this chance to play all the ps2 games that I missed. Heres a list of games I picked up so far from the used games section at EBgames

-Persona 3 FES
-Persona 4
-Kingdom Hearts
-Kingdom Hearts 2
-Okami (however u spell it)
-Final Fantasy X
-Xenosaga I
-Xenosaga II

im also thinking of picking up Final Fantasy X-2 and XII but heard they weren't that good, anyone have any other recommendations for what I should get?

Their used games are beat to hell though, at least that's what I noticed at 3 other Gamestops/EBs in this area.

i just found this website, www.inetvideo.com or www.inetvideo.ca, it seems to have the half price books/big lots gaming bin sales online.

i am going to give it a test order and see how it goes (Hawx for 10$ shipped)..

the merchant reviews where positive and the shipping seems reasonable (3$ then 2.50$ for each extra item)

browsing their catalogue their prices are almost spot on what i pay at HPB and Big Lots.

some of the game sthey have that are really good priced are

Hawx, 8$
COH:GOTY 6$ or COH Steel Collectors Edition: 7$
TombRaider Anniversary: 6$ / Underworld for 9$
Spacesiege : 4$

since they are both canadian and US, watch out for the french only versions :)

Agreed! inetvideo.com has been a great source for me to pick up HD-DVD movies and games for a while. They had clearance box sets on things when Bluray official won the war. (not looking to start anything on this topic.)
