Badges options

I do posting on a company forum and would like to post my badge on the posts I do. The background is a light blue, and it makes the letters on the badge really hard to read. Is their an option I have to change the colors of the letter displayed? I have seen others in this and other forums that have the black background on the badges with no name or info. Just have their points and [H] badge. I am under the understanding that those badges will be going away soon.

I need some options or suggestions? Lots of potential folders out there.

Thanks,

Actually I believe the black background is IE just not properly rendering the png transparency properly. My guess would be that you'd need to PM King_N and see if he could have the website render an alternate set of badges with black text. Thats the only suggestion I can offer.

Try posting it on a site with a white backround- no work at all ;)

The bages with no name/info are the ones pointed to EOC. IIRC, Xeno makes those, and there is a thread floating somewhere around here on how to use them.

Perhaps King_N could make the badge text have a black border, so that it would show up on any color. I'll edit my badge and show you what I mean. Gimme a minute.
1: default badge
badge-default.png

2: badge with black border around text. Try "view image" for a white background.
badge-modified.png

I created this image with Gimp; select by color->click on a white pixel, then select->grow (by 1px), then new layer, then dump black, then layer down. This puts the larger black layer on the bottom, so it appears as an outline around the white text. This makes it readable (albeit not easily) on a white background. An alternative would be this:
badge-modified-inverted.png

But I think the current ones are fine; I don't use them often enough other places to bother.

2 minutes later, we are all waiting. Pick up the pace!

Yeah, I would like to use them but I tried a while back and had issues getting the badge to work. Also, I understood that those badges were gonna go away soon due to some program being removed from his server.

Question is:

What is entailed in the creation of the badges? I know the board recieves the image from the server, posts the image and linkage. Is their any known work arround that could be used? Anyone actually use these on other forums?

Thanks,

We don't use those anymore. For now, the badges still work and xENo still has them on his site but he was going to take them off there eventually.

Props to xENo for doing what he did though. It was a good amount of work and is the reason we are currently using the badges that we have and why they look the way they do.
