Bad water block?

If you're adding water to the loop with the pump running continuously expecting it to push water around the loop when it's mostly air YOU ARE BURNING THE PUMP UP!!! Of course it will have problems after that kind of treatment.
 
After you get the loop going does the water speed up? With your setup the water should be flying through the system. How fast are the bubbles moving through the tubing???
 
I have a d5, and I tried the same experiements you are trying, and they never worked. It doesn't work like an aquarium or pond pump.

Try this:

1. Fill a big bucket up with water, 5 gallon worked well for me.
2. Put it up high on a stool or the kitchen counter.
3. Put the pump on the floor with a tube going from the inlet to the bucket of water.
4. Start a siphon by sucking water out of the bucket, into the pump, and into another bucket on the ground.
5. When you get a pretty good siphon going cut the pump on.

At this point it should really take off because you have properly primed it. It will empty the bucket fast.
 
my pump doesnt either [D-5] you need a closed loop and if the bubbles move almost too fast to see them the pump is fine .If you are going to test the way you said then you have to have a tube that goes in the pump at or below the water level [over the side of the sink not pump under the water] then the pump will still only push the water up 3 feet or so...

It's been this way ever since I had the pump. When putting the inlet in the sink, I would cut if on/off for split seconds, because no water was being moved. When adding water to the loop, there is plenty of water being supplied to the inlet.

Never had or seen another w/c setup before, so I don't know how fast water should be moving. But I am able to see the air bubbles.
