What kind of fps are you all getting with 4x AA and 8x AF? I keep dropping to like 30 fps. Vertical sync is off. 1680 x 1050.

Just alt-tab from game and back and you will get your 100+ FPS it's a known bug with L4D2 used to be same with L4D last year i hope they will fix this with new drivers, they fixed old L4D.

I play at 1680x1050 with 8xAA and 16xAF (everything maxed, of course) with vsync enabled and I get no stuttering - its a constant 60fps.

I haven't played it in the last couple of days, though, I've been playing Dirt 2 instead. I also haven't tried it since I updated to cat 9.11s.

Yep new patch gave me some jerkiness.

I RMAed my 5870s.....

so I am using my old 8800 GTX right now again...

the new patch makes the game a lot worse than it original is...

I have extreme stuttering and fps dip down below 20-30 all the time, no idea why..

No stuttering issues with my 5970.. just the low FPS at the beginning of a match due to a crossfire bug. Alt tabbing or toggling between vsync on / off fixes it though.

I'm starting to think something is wrong my card. I did this: http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1476986 benchmark and got half the numbers NeonGuy got. I know he has his processor clocked a lot higher but should it be that big a difference?

I ran the CS:S video stress test and got 211 fps average with everything enabled, highest AA and AF at 1680 x 1050. Does that sound right?

I had similar problems on my setup. I found it only ever ran properly on 4X AA, and after you get in a game you have to disable AA, then enable 4X AA. After doing this, it runs totally smoothly and at its expected FPS. You have to do this enable/disable thing after ever level change.

This persisted after a reformat and with the beta5 hemlock drivers and the dirt2 hotfix driver so I dunno what the deal is or if this will help your situation or not.

Maybe - Source games are going to be heavily CPU limited, though. You'd be better off firing up a more recent and demanding game and going off of that.

I doubt anything is wrong with your card, though. That usually displays itself as artifacting and crashes, although I suppose if your VRAM is bad that that could heavily impact performance due to the error checking stuff...

Yea I ran that Unigine Heaven benchmark today and I'm getting the same results as [H] got. I think my problem was due to my bios getting reset to fail safe defaults when I installed the card yesterday. My cpu was running back at 2.4. Now that I'm at 3.4 again I believe all is good :)

Yup.. it is a bug on any dual GPU setup. Same thing happened in L4D1 when it came out then it was fixed with a driver update. Hopefully 9.12 fixes it - I know a lot of people have reporting the problem to ATI.

hit escape --> options --> switch AA from 2X to 4X or off, hit apply. game will be back to normal.

The same bug existed when L4D1 launched, they have to fix it.
