I think the missiles are guided and you have to keep the red box over your target until they hit? Maybe I'm wrong though. I figured it was like the static AT emplacement as it uses the same UI.
 
Is there some sort of official guide somewhere which states what can do what and how? (EDIT: Official guide being basicaly... a manual...)

I mean I figure most stuff out but I'd like to be able to know what I can do with different things so I know what I'm doing (i.e. not blow myself up if I don't have to lol)
 
while we are waiting for another window of gameplay lets talk weapons. my new favorite weapon is the semi auto russian sniper rifle, the first unlocked one, with a red dot sight. it is an awesome ebr and i'm going to whore it a lot until i unlock the m14.
 
XM8 shits on everything I've used so far. Maybe not the M16, but the one I picked up had a stupid ACOG on it which makes it feel terrible. The red dot/4x scopes are entirely redundant, it's far easier to play with the default sights. You can hit people at range if you're not terrible, and you're not hampered by a 4x zoom when fighting up close.

Shame, because it's such a boring gun. I'm hoping the Abakan is better.

After the medkit and M249, apparently. I'm just shy of rank 11 and I still don't have them, because it's a horrible class to play without the full kit. Just been levelling everything else. Shame there's no contextual socialise button, and I wouldn't have to keep standing around typing to my team-mates that they can stop jumping in my face and firing at me because I don't have the fucking gear they want me to drop/use yet.
 
I hate retard medics that don't drop medkits while I'm doing the dance of death in front of their line of sight. I hate them almost as much as I hate consistently camping snipers.

there is more to the recon class than sit there and keep sniping despite an mcom being 2 feet away but you're too busy sniping to disarm it/ blow it up. Or they won't move up at all and they are at the rear most part of the map and the squad spawns on them but we don't know where there are at the time in HC mode. Its annoying and adds zero to teamwork. And yes I can do both snipe your ass at a distance while still being able to shoot you in the face like a retard soldier :rolleyes:.

This game is very fun and addictive. That being said it's also one of the buggiest pieces of shit i've ever seen. Where to start this train of fail? Punkbuster, nuff said. Server browser, fail. Random disconnects, fail. Wierd anomalies like my crosshair disappearing, fail.

I really wish they would have put a little more effort into fixing this things before release. This shit seriously feels like a beta test. At least what beta tests "used" to be like. Jesus, i miss the good ole days.
 
I still don't understand why Medics don't get the paddles right from the start, it worked fine that way in the beta. One of the two most essential parts of the class isn't even the first unlock either. The craziest thing for me was on the first two days playing I had the paddles from the beginning only to go wtf when suddenly they were gone and saw I had to unlock them.

I don't mind camping snipers when they are of some actual use. As in camping a M-COM station to pick off enemies trying to arm/defuse. But when the front lines shift please shift with them don't keep sitting back in your original spot. A Recon class (not sniper class) can also be a big asset to the team by using the 4x scope and a semi-auto sniper and fill the designated marksman role in the squad or do some urban sniping. But if you do want to just sit back and snipe for your own score please go lone wolf and not take up a squad slot.

Some servers have crosshair disabled....

A lot of the issues seem to be server problems. Admins need to keep their servers up to date every hour which is hard to do for EVERY server. Once I find a good server... it's good 'ol fraggin' for several hours. Then there's times like this when I can't even connect to EA while my roommate is happily playing... I can hear his speakers from my room and it's making me irritated :(
 
The connectivity issues are worse than BF2 when it came out. I fixed the PB issue, only to be greeted with "lost EA server" bullshit. I've spent the last half hour trying to connect to ANY server. Did they not learn anything from BF2!? Plus, input lag is terrible on this game. Maybe its just my rig, but I have a 3.4ghz Phenom II and 4890. It should run on High settings, but even Medium has input lag. I hope this game wasn't a waste of $50, but I'm thinking it was....

Fair warning to those out there: Don't believe the hype. Do not buy this game unless you're a hardcore fan.
 
Well, been using the EBR as a recon, only thing I hate is that I can't put a scope on it (not that I have problems aiming with iron sights)

Well, my order of unlocks is engi>assault>recon>medic I need my mines and UMP, damn it! :D Got over 600 knife kills so far and my 6th star :cool:

Been to a server where 75% of the team is recon sniper, its irritating, no offense at all :mad: then get mad rushed ad trying to defend and fail miserably. I see a lot of medics not aim at all, just rambo the MG at any given range
 
So I might have a first for this game. I think I might be the first sniper that spots targets, the first to use the motion ball, and the first to take an mcom station. In other news, today I found that the recon class is not useless, it's the people that use the recon class that are useless. Never really played recon until today. Been playing medic and engineer and thought I would give sniper a shot to see what people are doing wrong.

Well I think tagging sniper to recon is where most people fail. You can use other weapons too and still be recon.

It's almost as if they are throttling by user account to allow everybody to play lol.

I can play on the same server for 3-4 rounds then in the middle of a round "sorry couldn't connect to EA".. lol

i actually threatened some snipers on port valdez in HC mode. I shit you not we were down to 30 tickets and both mcom station were still standing and 3/4 of the team was sniping. I just spawned and took the tank and told them I was going to destroy that hill and wither their k/d ratio. needless to say we started taking out one mcom station. still lost, but pretty funny.
 
I just tried logging in again and it asked me for my serial code, then said can't find soldier!

That's a new one on me.

I think I've lost everything..

Shit love the recon class. Not for the rifles ( I use the Thompson gun most of the time) but for the arty and motion sensor.. :)

Spicey....hang in there..you probably haven't lost anything...I have had numerous dropped connections, weird behavior, and when the servers come back up, all is still there.

Currently bumped out again, after 2 hours play, and waiting for servers to come back up again.

No Spicey, you haven't lost all. It was asking me for the same... I kept logging out and logging back in, eventually it didn't ask me.

The servers were back up for minutes and EVERYONE appeared to lose all the unlocks. I died once... got them all back.....

...... Now everything is down again.

Contribute? I spent a whole round attacking as a Recon with M24 and C4 on that desert map with the train on a bridge with a team comprised of 70% medics. Came away with the Ace pin and gold Squad along with shedloads of other badges because I wasn't just sitting around.

Move forward, take the MCOM and put some C4 on it to blow when they try and defuse, throw motion detectors and take out people that are at ranges your team-mates can't deal with, or eliminate people manning TOWs or mounted MGs. There's loads you can be doing just with the basic kit, before you even equip the Saiga & expanded magazine and really start wrecking face.

Now here's something I think we can all agree on: while we can argue back and forth about recon/sniping/medics not healing which is all down to the players being disabled, there is NO CONTESTING the fact that the Blackhawk and the people that insist on using it ARE PIECES OF SHIT. I took to the skies with two gunners and two passengers on the jungle map, fucked if I know what it's called, and spent about 15 minutes carefully hovering to give them a stable platform from which to shoot, evading rockets and letting my team-mates try to kill people. Right over their base. They got about 6 kills between them all. I know the thing would be crazy if it was more powerful, but as it stands it's a waste of six people that could be making themselves useful on the ground.

I took a passenger seat just to repair it from inside and even doing that was pointless because these people were just insisting on getting themselves picked out of the sky. I swear every time I join a map with the Blackhawk we run out of tickets and lose due simply to the people that haven't yet realised it's a total waste of time to use it for anything other than transporting people.

Not sure why people post sniping videos of them on hardcore. Its like watching MW2 where you can shoot guys in the legs and get one shot kills. Actually showing a video of normal mode with long range head shots on the move would be impressive.
 
Can't get on as of about 3:30pm EST. Here we go again....seems to be about a 1/2 hour wait, then they are back up.

Up to level 8 now...good assortment of guns/attachments...loving it now much better w/ the new stuff.

RE: kills, BC2 kills are much harder than MW2.....yeah.

haven't unlocked it yet in the release version, but based off my experience in beta, the Saiga + shotgun upgrade was an incredibly strong gun in close distances and an ok gun in medium distances
