It's been nearly 3 years since I last visited Hardforum, but I'm back and started folding again with my new computer!

It's good to be back.

right now i have
amd phenom 9950 quad core overclocked to 3Ghz
graphics card: ati 4870
8 gigs of ram
1.5 TB hard drive space

Probably going to be adding another old Amd athlon xp 2500+ box next time i head to the storage building

Welcome!

Make sure you get that GPU folding, Most of your points will come from that.

Welcome back. Might I ask what brings you back by here? New job/apartment/girlfriend/lack of girlfriend?

Meh... I have about that on my main rig.

If you back anything up at all (media wise) that isn't much HDD space.

I have about that much in my main rig as well. That's not counting the other rigs I have and it's still not enough. I really need to get a couple of 500gig drives RMAd as they are borked and I could really really use the space. Hell, I still haven't converted all my CDs to FLAC much less ripped and encoded all my movies. Plus a large number of my encoded movies are backed up to DVD instead of on a hard drive for easy access which is one of the original reasons I ripped and encoded them in the first place. :(

Welcome back sir, glad to have you folding with us!

Beers and tamales to you!

Welcome back. :)

I too, was on a multi-year hiatus before I started folding again last year. There have been a lot of changes to the DC project overall in 2008, including the introduction of new clients. Don't hesitate to ask questions regarding setup and optimization. It can get a little complex to attain optimum levels of performance with the different types of clients currently running. I haven't even finished optimizing yet and I've been at it for several months!

actually lack of a girlfriend has brought me back. I now have extra money and more time

why leave the hard... even with a gf, one doesn't have a couple minutes a day to check things out???

very true. Guess I just drifted away form the Hard but I'm back now.

I'll be graduating in December with degrees in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering. w00t!

Girlfriend = lack of time and money
Wife = lack of TIME and MONEY
kids= never going to have time or money

So If losing a girlfriend mean having time and money...hmmmm.

I just got one of those girlfriend things. So far it hasn't cost me too much cash, but we shall see. Damn, what was I thinking. I forgot to borg her computer when I was there this weekend. I am getting oft already. I'll have to make another trip in a few weeks.

Few weeks?!?

Get you goodies touched and borg a comp all in the same trip?

Get in your car now!

I've got 4x320gb drives, 1x640gb, and 1x80gb external. I've got enough space at the moment, but I need to finish burning all my DVDs to disc instead of letting them take up most of my hard drive space.

I'll at least wait till the weather gets better and take the scooter in my sig. Saves me about $25-$30 in gas versus my S-10 round trip......and I can pass a semi in 6 seconds, hehe. I'll call her tonight and tell her how hot it would be if I could assimilate her. Awwww, yeaaaah.

Now now Kendrak.... careful there my friend:D

Musn't jinx our fellow folders....

Here's what you do. Load up about two dozen tamales and a case of Pacifico and head over to her house... I'm sure that your borging will be most successful... the tamales work every time:)

Well, I asked her if she knew what a borg was and she told me she grew up on Star Trek. Can I fit a case of Pacifico in a backpack? She said it runs most of the time anyway, some store-bought HP, not sure of the specs. I'll put the uniproc client on it and then maybe add a GPU to it later on.
