AVP Demo and Eyefinity Feedback

That is really nice that it just WORKED

I wish more shit worked even after fawking with it for hours I still cant get half my games to work on eyefinity

Even Dirt 2 I had to go in and delete the old config file to get it to function properly

Crysis works GREAT... amazing game with eyefinity... only game that gave me NO issues with eyefinity

No other games work though:
MW2(new patch), UT1,2k4,3, FarCry 2 est est list can go on for ever

I preordered AVP,... cant wait to play it

But that still doesn't make sense. The arguments here are that peripheral vision is established through the side two monitors. However, if it's only "slightly wider" on 3xportrait mode, you're seeing *less* in the middle monitor because what would be normally on the front monitor is now on the side monitors, separated by a bezel. In reality, you're losing visual space in your front monitor compared to a single 16:10 monitor (no matter how large the monitor). In landscape mode, sure, there's a lot more displayed image because it's adding the wider FOV to the left and the right of what would normally be seen. In Portrait, you're actually losing what's in front of you as it's being put on the side monitors.

No, that is the argument used to try and satisfy those who just sit there and scream "OMG THE BEZELS ARE GOING TO RAPE YOU IN THE FACE!!!!". Those who actually HAVE Eyefinity say that it is more immersive, both in portrait AND landscape, and that the bezels really aren't an issue.

Several people who have actually used it have said they prefer 3x 24in over 1x 30in even in portrait, so clearly there is a rather significant difference in seeing it in RL vs. seeing it in pictures/videos.

Like I said, I don't have it myself so I'm going off of the reports of others, but I am excited to try it.

Sorry to hear about your troubles. My setup has been far less problematic. Dirt2, Batman - Arkham, NFS: Shift, L4D, Hawx, and HL2 = No probs.

Assasin Creed on the other hand stopped working all together after mucking with the config.ini file... :(

I'm looking forward to more new titles that "just work" out of the box.

Ya i am not having any problems with those games either

they just released a fix for the MW2 182 patch... so that is fixed too.

I really love Dirt 2 in eyefinity... by far the best thing i have experienced in eyefinity

And now with 2x5850s I get great frames 5760x1080 x4 and med settings

I can't help but laugh at all the bezel comments here. I stopped noticing the bezels the first day I played Dirt2 on eyefinity.

Heh, personally I never wanted a screen as large as 30"... Heck I only ended up w/the 24" I have now because it was on clearance at Costco, same price as the 22" i was going for... Yet I can't wait to try out Eyefinity. Can't wait 'till I have the chance to swap desks so I can start shopping for some nice 22-23" IPS monitors. I'll probably hold off on a card purchase 'till Fermi is out but still... Eyefinity looks awesome to me, I could care less about the bezels.

I've worn glasses since I was in 3rd grade... Been seeing frames around my FOV for the better part of my life and I can't remember the last time I though about it ('cept maybe when I'm skiing or playing basketball w/o contact lenses), I can't imagine a couple of screen bezels would bother me all that much. People go thru tons of similar situations (A-pillars inside cars, etc.) w/o even realizing it. /shrug

What's the point of having the 3 monitors if the FOV is the same as if you have one monitor? You end up with big black bezels in the way. Other than higher resolution, what's the big deal?

With the 3 Dell U2410 that I have in portrait on my personal setup, I end up with about 1050 pixels wider vision and about 320 pixels taller vision compared to my single 30" so the view is about the same in terms of ratio. However, I now have a 42" "screen" rather than a 30" screen which kicks more ass that Nell Carter on smack. I find it truly more immersive than the single 30" and have gone back to using the 30" for comparison.....it sucked to game on a 30" after doing Eyefinity on the 3x1 24" Portrait.

Now keep in mind that I am also a patient man......this will be my next setup.

Bad company 2 beta also works with no fiddling from what ive seen on youtube.

Mine was a PITA to get to work on Eyefinity, but it did finally work. Had to be a bit creative with the menus....

"OMG THE BEZELS ARE GOING TO RAPE YOU IN THE FACE!!!!".

You made me LOL.
