I just bought a Seagate 750 gig 7200.10 form Zipzoomfly. When I got it, it was the worst packaging ever. See the pictures. I am going to try to get them to replace it, but I would start avoiding them for hard drives. It was an OEM drive. Hooked it up to see if it worked, bios would not recognize it, and it just clicked.

weird... I bought 2 raptors and an 80gb sata and they all came in foam boxes...

Someone was off game when they did that. Generaly speaking ZZF packs the drives better then most of the other online guys. You just happened to get a mistake.

No worries I avoid them like the plague after they wouldnt help me with bad memory.

ZZF usually has good packaging...very odd for them, maybe the combo confused them :p

I've ordered a couple things from them, and dont recall having any problems. But yeah that packaging is pretty shitty.

that is unreal!! contact ZZF, i am sure they can track it back to who ever packed it.....

www.directron.com, always ships with lots of protection, drive wrapped in a ton of bubble wrap, tapepd tight and a box filled with those wqhite styrofoam cubes.

I have never seen ZZF ship a box like that, never. From the past 20 or so drives I have ordered from them, they have ALWAYS come in a little foam coffin container and were packed well with extra packaging.

Whoever packed that seemed like they were ready to leave and just tossed it in the box with no regard, somone should be fired for this.

Yeah, I actually bought 10 hard drives from zipzoomfly because of how well they packaged them. They came in a very robust divider. The only thing I'd really buy from them is harddrives, because everything else I've ordered from them is days late shipping, and thats after I pay for the upgraded service. And I think their RMA department is the second to worst I've ever delt with.

I hope this was a one time thing, if this is what they are going to do from now on I'm done with zzf.

And I second www.directron.com, I've been very happy with them.

Hard drives have always been one of ZZF’s strong points for me. I am sorry that your order was handled and shipped in such a poor manor.

Not being able to see the pictures I'll just use my imagination to think the hard drive was shipped in a large paper envelope surrounded by magnets and sharp items.

I always go to ZZF for my OEM drives though, since they package them with the foam container. I just ordered 3 drives from them, so I hope your situation was just a fluke and that they will replace it for you.

Visualization: Big box, OEM Vista CD or something in there and a 750gb hard drive laying in the corner.... can we say eggs in a tin can? :D

Talked to them today, they advanced RMA it. No restocking fee either. Lets see how the new drive comes.

Better not give hit you with a restocking fee... you're exchanging an item... not returning it.

That's astounding. I've never gotten anything that poorly packed, from any store, ever. Even on a set of $3 adapters all the way from Taiwan, they came in a nicer package than that.

That packing is an absolute piss-take! "This box is a bit big, I'll just toss this airbag in."

I haven't ordered from ZZF in a couple of years, in fact since my change to S939 with a 3500+ and neo2 plat, it certainly wasn't packed like that, though.

Union workers at ZZF? ;)

It must have been a new packager, or was one of those 8 am on a Monday packaging fluke type things.

I only buy drives from ZZF because of their top notch packaging, I just got a new 500 GB two weeks ago from them, it was in the plastic container, inside the foam box thing, drowning in peanuts in a fairly big box. The only drives I've got like in the picture were from Newegg :(

You know what. You should thank the guy that packaged this.

He saw you were buying an MS OS. He did what any good friend would do -- he stopped you from putting it on that hard drive.

Yup.

Good man right there.

(kidding) :D

seems completely, 100%, perfectly logical and a absolutely sane thing to do.
