Just wondering what the average overclock on the core and memory is for this card stock cooling

Well, according to what I've read, they don't often go past the 700 Mhz mark, on the core, so I think I'm safe to say the average should be ~690 MHz on the core. I don't remember the value for the memory.

I just turn both sliders all the way up and it works fine. I havent tried the volt settings and tray tools method.

I wouldn't do that your card might not stay 100% stable when doing that. Its better to move the core and memory up 5-10mhz at a time and then run benchmarks when your score goes down use the setting before the one its currently set at.

Using my 3DMark05 score database, the average X1900 XTX oc is 722/850.

That is an average of 9 X1900 XTX overclocks.

1. 786/882
2. 760/891
3. 776/972
4. 720/850
5. 690/855
6. 765/873
7. 689/797
8. 690/800
9. 650/775

even on water I didn't want to raise the voltage too much

on stock v's I got

4. 720/850

I got it past 800 with lots of volts :p but that was slider to max :O 1.55 i think or 1.6?

That would be an average of 9 overclocks that may or may not use elaborate cooling systems. Though helpful, this doesn't accurately reflect what can be achieved with stock cooling.

On stock cooling, my own XTX hits the max offered by Overdrive. I've never bothered pushing harder nor tried to determine maximum stable clocks.

both my xt and xtx go past 690 on the core.. they get freakin hot though.. putting them on water very soon. :)

I understand your point. In fact, I doubt that anyone has a large enough, representative sample of x1900xtx overclocks to provide E[x1900xtx overclock]

for example, looking at this:
http://hardforum.com/showpost.php?p=1028870606&postcount=23
we see that the xtx does 717/83x on average.

looks like I should have just gone for an XT, which slightly lower averages of 709/812

I have my XTX clocked @ 710/801 on 1.375 voltage with stock cooler with and average of 57*c

That clock isn't even overclocked, that's the default 3d speeds.

im no expert but don't ati's run hot enough w/o overclocking?
To put it bluntly, you could fry an egg on a naked R580. Of course, you'd need a fairly small egg. To put it more specifically, 90C is the point at which the drivers start increasing fan speed. For the most part, however, the GPU is pegged at ~90C - fan speeds don't go up much.

90C is HOT, but it's all relative. It's tough to say at what temperature issues would start to occur.
