Merry Christmas All,
Does anyone know of a program (free or pay, it doesn't matter) that I can use to automatically restart a computer daily? The computer has Windows 7 64 bit on it.

PS. I know someone will ask, so here it is: the computer is my HTPC with dual Ceton InfiniTV cards that I have set up to record shows. I also network to that computer and use the tuners to watch TV on other computers in the house. Every now and then the cards seem to lock up and I usually just reboot to get them working.
 
write a batch file to reboot the machine and then use Task Scheduler to run it at a specified time (such as midnight).

in the batch file put this line

c:\windows\system32\shutdown.exe -F -R

Thats strange they would lock up your system after extended usage. Certain that you don't have a thermal issue with the system? I have a Linksys WRT310N router that would hard lock about once a month. Retrofitting an old CPU cooling fan and a resistor to it nipped that issue in the bud.

Thanks for the "batch file" suggestion. You wouldn't know of an easy-to-follow guide on how to create one would you? I've never dealt with them, at least not that I know of.

Thanks for the overheating suggestion...I've had the computer apart several times troubleshooting this. All is nice and as cool as can be expected.

open notepad

insert above command

click on file -> save as-> restart.bat

then open task scheduler and set a task to run said batchfile at said time and then apply the task
