Autocorrect/Autocomplete on Chrome Mobile

I'm not sure if this is an issue with the site or with my phone, but I know the behavior doesn't occur with other websites from my phone's browser.

I am using Android 8.0.0, with the latest Google Chrome browser, and Gboard.

The "suggestion" bar that appears above my onscreen keyboard does not work correctly about 80% of the time. If I swipe in a word, and get it wrong, tapping the desired word from the suggestions bar does not change the text in the forum box. Alternatively, it changes the text to some non-word mashup of the word I accidentally typed and the word I tried to correct it to.

This seems to me like the problem should be local and specific to my phone, but no other website or app exoticse this behavior. (<- Perfect example: I tried to type "exhibits," got "exotic," tapped once to correct it and "exoticse" is what it pooped out.)

No, I mean any field. I'm talking about just using Gboard to type a post like this one - the autocorrect behavior is wonky.

Like I said, it makes no sense to me, but this is the only site where my phone exhibits this problem. Thought I'd bring it up.

It doesn't.

However, now it doesn't happen here either.

Did you do something, or did I just have a bizarre user-error fluke?
