Audioengine a5+ speakers incompatibilty

Got my new Audioengines and wow....what can I say...

Anyway, I am having problems. I am able to play sound through music players (itunes and Musicbee are the ones I have used) yet both skype and the internet can't play any sound. What is the problem here??
 
WASAPI was the problem (Musicbee is using it). Never knew WASAPI used the sound card exclusively.

WASAPI , ASIO and KS (Kernal Streaming , I think it does as well but not 100 percent sure) all use the sound card exclusively and bypass the internal Windows 7 mixer.

Now the "supposed" difference is that by bypassing the internal mixer the sound will be better. But that's total bullshit , it makes no difference , the sound quality is the same and if anyone says otherwise tell them to do a ABX Foobar test with them on and off. Its simply not perceivable.

Now if you want to completely isolate the card from outside sounds your PC might make during music playback than enabling WASAPI and or the others can make it so you hear nothing but the music you stream. I generally find this to be a pointless requirement though as I can directly control whatever else attempts to play a sound outside Foobar.

TL;DR Don't bother with any of those isolated paths , they don't make the sound "better" and can cause popping , crackling sounds during play back.

Yeah, I'll have to agree with this. It's also not worth the inconvenience.
 
Try it out yourself, grab Foobar and see if you can tell the difference while using WASAPI... If you can't, why bother.
