Audigy remote not working

I bought an audigy 2zs platinium and only just got around to trying the remote it came with, but it's not doing anything. The diode isn't lighting up, but since I'm not sure if it's visible or IR I don't know if it matters. I have removed the tab over the battery in the remote, and the one over the window on the drivebay unit.



PS, Is there any reason I can't replace the provided ribbon cable with a round one?

The ir is not visible.. but I believe you have to install Creatives "remote / media center" to get the remote to work correctly.

thank you, is there anyway to integrate it into 3rd party mp3 player apps? I see the program mentioned in the thread you linked does have winamp support but I'd prefer to avoid spending money unneccesarily.
