ATI X800XL DVI Problems

I have an ATI made X800XL- AGP, 256MB.

I shut down my machine to try out a LiveCD of Linux Mint, but got no signal from the DVI port on boot up. I rebooted it a few more times, but still nothing. Eventually, I switched over to VGA and it works just fine.

ATI support said to disable the Hotkey Poller service, which I did... Still nothing.

I mean... What the hell? Just out of the blue, my DVI just... stops. I'm confused, scared, and alone. :(

I have updated to the latest drivers.
Tried shutting machine and monitor down completely and booting up with ONLY the DVI plugged in. No dice.

This kinda happened to my 8800GTS. One day I boot up my PC and I get funky artifacts all over the place. Felt my heart sink, dreading that my beloved GTS finally croaked. I shut it down, brought it back up, still no bueno.

Then I switched DVI ports and voila, it's alive! Few months later I upgraded everything except my videocard and tried the first DVI port again. Booted up with no problems. The only thing I can think of is perhaps there was dust in my PCI-E bus. This wouldn't be the first time a dusty bus has given me grief.

I still love my X800 XL. That thing is my most reliable card, as it has never broken down since I bought it almost 4 years ago.
