ATI X1950XTX Review!

That thing really does kick ass for how much the price is! only $399? thats good. but it really didnt even try to scratch a 7950GX2.. and this is on a FX55 :D i would like to see crossfire x1950's run on something more like a FX62

Definetly picking up 2 of these for my conroe build at the end of the month. I think this is ATI trying to get all us agp users to finally switch over. At $399, you can't really go wrong. I bet these things will overclock like beasts.

*yawn*

I knew those benchmarks last week were complete BS. Looks like nVidia still holds the top speed position. ATI needs to lower the price of this card for it to be a success. The 7950GX2 outperforms this at every benchmark and costs $469, this loses to the GX2 and costs $399. ATI needs to make the price gap larger than only $70 if they want to sell this thing.

Well if this is selling for $399, they'll have to drop the prices on the rest of the cards, no?

Long live AGP...hehe i'll switch over in a year or two. i'm going to try to hold out with my x800pro as long as I can.

I had a gut feeling that the previous leaked benchies was utter bs... my gut feeling paid off.

I was just about to buy an x1900 CF and an x1900xtx and do crossfire anyway, I just see this as having 2 suped up x1900xtx's for less money.. I'm happy with that. And it's obviously gonna lose to the 7950 cus that's 2 cards sammiched together.

Where is a 7950 for 469$ im in the maket for one right now! :D

Well, the review could have used some resolutions over 1600x1200. And what's up with them calling the 7950 a 1 gb card? Sure it has 1 gb total, but it's effectively a 512 mb pair of sli'd 7900 GT's.

I'll wait fo Guru3D to do their review because I can't believe that the x1900xtx goes hand in hand with the x1950xtx. I was getting ready to sell my x1900xtx and x1900 Crossfire, but if these benchmakr hold up from various reviewers then there's no need to sell my cards.

I think it would be pointless to go from the x1900xtx to this card anyway. The boost doens't justify having to shell out the money again. Someone like me on the other hand, this is very attractive. I'm still using an x800xt AIW AGP, so when I build my new system I'm definetly jumping on these cards.

Wow, way to pair up a top of the line graphics card with a gimp ass FX-55 + 1GB PC3200. gg Hardwarezone! laff. Doesnt take a smart person to see from his graphs that he is CPU limited.

Check out a real review of this beast using Conroe @ VR-Zone. Props to Shamino

What so different about 1950 and 1900xtx except for faster memory? No core increases? Doesn't do anything FPS wise...

When is ATI real next card coming out? The dx 10 card that's been designed not duplicated from 1900 series..

Wow what totally different reviews when you read hardwarezone's compared to vr-zones ...

Hardwarezone's I was like errr ... not sure if I would buy ...
Vr-Zone's I was like ... Gimmie now!

The best thing I liked about the card was the cooler ... hardwarezone's temp readings showed the temps lower then a HIS cooler on the xtx.
So now you dont have to worry about buying a 3rd party cooler or even the HIS brand to have good air cooling and a quiter cooler.

I'm wondering how well this card will overclock and how well the memory will overclock ...
I wonder if this card will cause problems for people with semi-adequate powersupplies.

And for 399$ <<< nice price ...

Hmm totally different results than hardware zone. I guess this pans out well for Conroe users but not so much for AMD users. Going to wait on more benchmarks before coming to a conclusion about the performance--I'm still doubtful that a bump in memory speed would put the card above a 7950 in performance.

am just hoping for an X1900 CF card for cheap now :D oh yeah crossfire !!

crap I need a new psu grrr

I dont completley swallow that review. The review shows that even a 1900 is beating the 7950gx2...

I'm not swallowing any of these reviews.

Digitime's came directly from ATI. We all know that ATI blatantly and intentionally lies on their PR benchmarks.
VR-Zone's shows the X1900XTX beating a GX2. No damn way.
Hardware-Zone's uses an FX-55, which is an obvious bottleneck for all the video cards.

I'm waiting for [H]ardOCP or Anantech to review this thing before I make any conclusion.

exactly.. Its amazing how everybody here is like "I knew those benchmarks are fake! That webpage is not even credible".. so yea, lets not believe one site, but invest 100% in some other no name site.

No announcements from ati = no REAL information for these hobbiest sites other than hearsay from that god damn inq.

Oh, we all know that? You KNOW that? That's cool, maybe sometime you can teach us your super secret spy methods and mind-reading tricks, mister bond

Did you also profess to know that Intel lied about their Conroe benchmarks? Oh wait, they didn't. And you're apparently an Intel/Nvidia fan boy anyway judging by your posting history, so you wouldn't have said anything even if they had.

Score 1 for mister bond.

I believe newegg has the eVGA 7950GX2 for $499 minus a $30 mail-in rebate at the moment.

Just read the review on VR-Zone. Since Shimano tested the cards with a newer processor, the Core 2 Duo 6800 Extreme, I would tend to believe his results versus any single core results. And, historically, he uses NVIDIA, so he has no motivation to make the ATI card look better than the results indicate. Get a Crossfire version using this card, and you will have zero issues at the highest resolutions with all the eye candy enabled (even HDR+AA).

Actually this has been proven in the past with their white paper releases.

Btw, when you start insulting you start losing credibility.

Well, ATi did say that they stuck with 16 pixel pipes because there just wasn't enough bandwidth with all the shader action going on. Maybe this is what they were talking about. You've got a beefy V8 under the hood, but now you've replaced that crappy 4-barrel for some high performance fuel injection?

Need I remind of you of the X1900 crossfire "benchmarks"? ATI's numbers showed X1900 crossfire as almost FOUR TIMES faster than a 7900GTX SLI setup. Need I say more?

I still just think that unless it comes from ATI, I would take it with a grain of salt.
The only thing ati has really said about it is that coolers will be like nvidia, where they dont have a "set" cooler, meaning that the sapphire card might have a different cooler than the powercolor version.

VR-Zone is showing a whopping 48% increase in COD2 performance (1600x1200, 16xAF, NoAA) from an effective 500MHz increase in memory clock? According to the specifications, the theoretical increase in memory bandwidth is only 29%. Even if the entire rendering pipeline is limited by VRAM speed, a 48% performance increase in a real gaming scenario is absolutely impossible.

Is this a correct assumption?

Yeah deffinately, vr-zone is a no name site and shamino is a noob cake idiot that doesn't know what he's doing. I mean, all those vmods they do and the wr's shamino gets, wtf is that? seriously. GTFO NOOB VR-ZONE.

also how the memory architecture handles the new latencies, supposedly for the X1K's they were ment for DDR4, what ever that means i have no clue, but it came released with support for both DDR3/4 so i wouldn't really expect THIS kind of leap in performance, i'd expect a 15% - 25% at the very most.
