Has anybody heard of when motherboards based on the ati690 chipset are going to be available? This is the chipset based on the x700 graphics processor. Only reason I am waiting for this motherboard is I'm between upgrades. (Currently nforce3 agp) and would like a boarderline decent integrated solution that can hold me over until direct x10 cards start to hit the market. (dont have time to game during holiday season because of nature of my work so I can wait). Does anybody have any info on this chipset/motherboard?

DX10 cards hit the market on Tuesday . ;)

But no, I haven't heard anything about that chipset unless you mean the RD600 which is slated for February I believe.

I heard they've had problems getting it manufactured. Lots of distractions there these days i'd guess.

throwing out a little update here.

i've been waiting for this IGP for a long while now, and we should see it sometime next month hopefully.

dont know for sure whether this will be an AMD only chipset though. we've seen this already in Intel based notebooks, but i'm not too sure if we'll see this for C2D desktops.

Yeah, I can't imagine the whole ATI/AMD merger is good for the Intel chipset division of ATI. Even if it does come out, I don't think it will be in large quantities personally.

RS690? Havent heard of it , but sounds pritty "one up" on the 680i to me.

there is a possibility that this is a new name for what we used to call the rd600. i think this is what it may be, because i remember reading in several different places last aug/sep that the follow-on chipset to the ati rd600 had been cancelled.

Trolling much? If not, my apologies and please see below.

RD600 is neither cancelled, nor the same chipset as RS690. The former is being released in limited quantities this month, and various websites around the Intarweb are excitedly reviewing boards for the upcoming release. The latter is the version of the RD600 that comes with integrated x700 graphics.

He wasn't trolling. I heard the same thing that after the RD600 the Intel chipsets were cancelled or at least being reevaluated in light of the AMD merger.

i typed that the FOLLOW ON chipset to rd600 (rd700?)was possibly cancelled. i just took a guess about the origin of the rd690, and apparently was correct. it is a new name for the rd600 (yea yea, with onboard graphics).

Personally, I'd be more interested to see that chipset in a laptop than I would a desktop.
